I blame all you Republicans. I blame anyone and everyone that cant manage money right. Regardless of your political ideology, if you cant manage the money right, you got no business being in office. The executive staff for the company I work for cant manage money if their lives depended on it. 2 years ago, they decided to buy $6M dollars worth of equipment for a "promised" job that was going to take place in Russia. The marketing dept kept 'wow-ing' everyone with gimmicks of all sorts. It never happened, and they had to lay off 5 good co-workers. Yet, they have the highest budget of the whole company (almost twice compared to everyone else put together), and they blow it away on the most ridiculous promotional products (made in China of course)

Most all government agencies need some cutting. Way too many "programs" going on that we can't afford. Everyone is going to have to take some cuts.

JR, i know that's true but when time's were good, they did nothing, and we still payed higher and higher fee's, i guess what i'm worried about is they will raise the cost where nobody can afford to pay, and we still have junk park's that nobody want's to come to,out of state people and such.

That's definitely true...look how many boat permits the national park service has sold the last few years on Amistad and there are still caliche parking lots and roads at the ramps. That caliche strip and area around box canyon is a joke. Wonder where all that $$$ goes?

JR to pay all those high dollar making park ranger's. I remember when the govt shut down back in what 94 or 95 those people at the park service got off their ashes and then really made an ash of them self's, i remember they would see you backing down the ramp and come tell you, you had put your seat belt on,lol

People are a big part of the problem. It costs money to keep parks clean, facilities maintained. People take the attitude that park rangers are paid to clean up after them, fix the stuff the destroy, like it is no big deal. If People took better care of our parks the cost to maintain them would be less. this not the only problem, but a part of it. Our current political system is the other big problem.

You are right on East Texan on what you said- - I know a man that has all the info and is on the Tx safety board plus the original post sunk had to be redone because they sunk in the mud as reported in the Beaumont and Lufkin paper- it's a joke made to help the locals and the ones who profit from it- the State already had land at SFA, next to Sam Rayburn Park but they choose to not go there because of the location to the money people( remember they wanted an theatre in it at first)- they are over run a ton and as usual you pay for it - anyone doubt this I will gladly give you a phone number to call and you can taklk to a man that lives there and has all the true facts-

There is some SERIOUS mis-information in this post. Get your facts straight man. by Texas Smoke My ears are open, please educate us. If I made errors in the original post, I'll retract any items that are in error. Most of this is public information. Just Google it up. The TPWD com. does not want to talk about it, but the info is available. The Houston and Beaumont papers report it, but the papers in the rest of Texas avoid mentioning it.

I'm not defending the TPWD because I'm not close enough to it.
But, admit it, paying $47 for an all year, all-water license that allows you to keep thousands and thousands of dollars worth of fish in a year is by far the best deal in sports entertainment.
$47 gets you about 6 holes on a decent golf course. And what do you get to keep, clean and eat?
$47 gets you a parking spot at a major stadium for one event. (Okay, that's a little exaggeration) But, for less than parking a car at Reliant, you get to launch a boat AND take up 2 spaces for your boat and truck.
$47 gets you a beer and a a hot dog for two at most sporting events.
Boat registration is CHEAP. The sales tax money and trailer registration money doesn't go to the TPWD, it goes to the county and state.
They may be wasting money- I don't know. But in the scheme of things....

I totally agree, if anyone on here has issues with the cleanliness of their home lakes park or ramo area...look at yourself and the other people that use the ramp. Come on guys! Our State/National Parks are for us to enjoy, not destroy! Just a little cleanup of boat, bed of truck, and maybe even pick up a couple pieces of trash and throw it away. Who gives a damn that its not your mess. Pick it up and leave no trace. Our lakes and rivers will thank you for it by allowing you to catch more fish!!
