Anyone ever fish the water below the GV spillway? I/m not talking about the discharge from GV in the middle of the golf course, but that large pond or small lake below the overflow spillway.
It looks like its fairly deep, and can be accessed by foot easily enough. I bet there are a bunch of Crappies hanging along that wall the extends out into it from the bank.

Been there, but not sure if it's legal to fish there. It's deep and clear. There were plenty of panfish last time I went, which was in the late 90's

Ditto on the been there, but not sure if it's legal or not. Haven't fished it, it's a bit of a hike if you have a lot of gear to carry.

I have always wanted to fish there, but I could never find a place to park. I might give it a try on Thursday before I head over to Murrell.

THere's an old road that isn't accessable any more, but I used to park there and walk to the back end of the pond and walk down the steep hill.

If it's where I'm thinking DH Fisher and I did a lil exploring last summer,if you turn in at the golf course there is an area on the left before you actually get to the club house, that is barricaded by a metal pipe and belive it has a gate that they open to let service vechiles thru,we parked there and hiked down to the water, lots of bream and spotted a few carp, also saw some schooling activity, which we assummed were sandies they were out further and couldn't tell for sure. There was a clearing at the bottom of the trail lots of bait boxes and trash,we tried to walk the banks but most had very tall thick reeds that made it difficult to cast, looked very fishy and a good spot for mini boat or raft.We didn't stay long ,DH caught bream on a fly rod.

That's the parking area I'm talkin' about. It's a fairly deep pond.
