Does anyone know why the city is letting the water at spring creek and legacy get so low? they've opened up the dams and the water is dropping in the 6 ft range by now. Im think its grass killing measures does anyone have any other thoughts?
We may rise and fall but in the end we'll meet our fates together.

Dane, there was a post in the ponds and tanks section awhile back. Someone said they are going to dredge the lake, then I guess they'll let it fill back up. Did you notice if the water is down below the levy (south of Tennyson)?

yeah i fished the main lake a few weeks ago when the drainage started and i talked to some dude and he said they are going to dredge it out... about 3 days ago i was fishing the little creek at the end of the river section when some guys in harhats opened up the other dam and water started flowing hard, totally flooded that area.... went back yesterday and found a couple big dead carp but caught a small LMB and alot of big bluegill
hopefully they start the dredge soon cuz all the fish are gona die in that hot shallow water, you can see BIG fish swimming in the shallower areas trying to keep alive

Damn it, I hate it when idiots do things like that. Don't they realize that by dredging it in summer, they run a good chance of killing ALL the fish in the lake? That's so irritating. They need to do that sort of thing in the winter, when the oxygen levels in the water will stay higher. As hot as I hear it's been lately, those fish are gonna fry if they cannot get to any deeper, cooler water, or they will suffocate when the oxygen levels die.
That really angers me. It's always some dumb idiot who thinks the lake is 20 feet deeper then it really is, or who knows nothing about fish biology that causes all the fish to die.
If big carp are dying, that's a bad sign. Carp can survive in water a lot less oxygenated then bass can. They are much hardier fish. Of course, the big ones will die first as they need more food/oxygen to stay alive.
This really sucks. I had heard there were a lot of big carp in there, and I always wanted to go fish them. Now it sounds like I won't get the chance.
And it's not like we're in a drought or anything...
...yeah, perfect time to dredge the lake. Idiots.

i say as many folks as possible should fish there & move whatever they can catch to another nearby lake/pond....
any idea when they plan to start dredging?

I cant believe that they would dredge that in the middle of the summer. That is by far the best place to fish in the area and they are going to ruin it for years. If anyone is down there again and sees workers, ask who is in charge of the water management and post it back because i would be more that happy to call and find out all of the info that i can.

I went and looked at this place yesterday and saw several hundred black little catfish schooling up to the bank. There were several schools containing several hundred fish. There are also a lot of fish in the holder where the water drains behind the apts. You can pick these fish up with your hand, some are huge. The water is only about a 1 ft deep. Some one should go in and transport these fish to a better place.

water level is up to normal now, maybe a lil high because of the rain, wonder if they will drain it again, they shut off the dam behind the apartments so thats holding the river section in, i havent checked the main lake dam though... well at least the waters up, its murky though because of all the dried bottom getting all wet again
