I'm looking to start making some runs to Texoma and was wondering................

If you could choose your top 3 rods, reels and baits for striper on Texoma, what would they be?

Rubber swim baits, top water lures, and slabs....everything you need you can get from www.moestackleshop.com except for rods and reels

Swim baits most anytime of year..slabs in the summer and top water plugs in the spring and fall

I've been having good luck with the Jarvis Walker 7' rod for live bait. Suggested by JD Lyle. Cheaper than an Ugly Stick.

I'll have to check out the Walker rods. From the few replies, it seems pretty basic. Unlike black bass, but I guess it depends on who you ask.

If I got this right, it sounds like I can get by with:

7' Ugly Stick
Shimano Curado (or Citica I'm sure)
Sassy Shads, jigheads, slabs and some pencil poppers.

The closest three rods to your boat. Nothing fancy, most of the time they set the hook for you. You could use a broomstick with twine if you wanted to. Live shad, slabs and pencil poppers.

I have enjoyed fishing Texoma various times over the past 5 or 6 years. I like using the lures personally. Everyone has their own preferences. For lures I like 7ft MH rods. Baitcasting reels, I have some curados by shimano that I like, and have a calais but they are pretty pricey.

Topwater- Pencil Poppers most of the time ,Saltwater Chug,Papa Dawg, Zara Spook at times. Pencil poppers are more expensive then most topwaters that you might use at Texoma but in my personal opinion they cast well, dont parachute on ya when you cast into the wind, and they work great.

Slabs- bout any slab will work there I would imagine. I like 1.5oz and 2oz slabs, TNT 180's and Prune Pickers are a preference of mine. In the past when selling baits I sold many Ch/Wh or anything with silver holographic there. That holographic really goes to work on that lake for you. Many folks say only Chartruese, I broke some folks that used to say that with silver holo TNT 180's, they would have one of their customers in the boat with silver spanking the chartreuse's slabs tail, that does work vice versa though depending on conditions.

Sassy Baits, like wild eye types, coho's and flukes for dead sticking. Need any help finding any of them shoot me a pm. Good fishing to ya.

The only problem I have with them is that I can't get that 'Dumas Walker' song by the Kentucky Headhunters out of my head while fishing.
