Since dumping your own brushpiles in a public lake is technically illegal..... would it be cheating if you won a tournament off a brushpile that you made?

I understand building brushpiles is something a lot of people do and there was even a post about where to get your free christmas trees a few months back.

Polygrapher asks.... "Did you break any lake laws etc"

It just seems like a gray area and was wondering what everyone thought...

Not sure building brush piles is illegal on all lakes

That's the same as saying you broke a law by speeding on the way to the lake....

what they ask your only pertains to what you do within tourney hours. also if you have been caught cheating in another tourney. if you broke TPWD rules, etc.

they cant enforce laws or punish you for what you do outside of thier realm. Look at the 5th amendment of the constitution wink

Or what if your tail light is out on the trailer when you launched and you knew it. Should you DQ yourself LOL.

This was a huge topic several years ago. There are folks that have tournament brush pile paranoia. If they did not set them out or don’t know where they are at, paranoia sets in.

PM me with the GPS coordinates with said offensive brushpiles and I will assess them to see if they are legal and report back to you.

Like stated, you're perfectly legal!

Here is my question

During a trailered event. While heading to weigh-in by vehicle and you get a traffic ticket. Should that person be DQ'd? What if an angler is speeding to not b late to weigh-in and didn't get caught. Should they be DQ'd? Would that be qualified as cheating? Kinda like not slowing down for a no wake zone.

Just asking because this is one of many reasons I am not for trailered events.

I haven't made a cast to a deep water brushpile in years, and I am here to tell you if people start calling that cheating I will stop fishing tournaments. As long as you catch all your fish on the same body of water as the tournament, with artificial lures, you are good to go in my book.

NO! Too much thought went into that. So if I started my big motor before my killswitch was attached or before I buckled the last strap of my lifejacket, am I DQ'D...

Someone speeding to make it to weigh-in is within the rules? Hmmmmmm. So would you turn in another tournament boat for blowing by the "no wake" buoy to obviously gain an advantage in time?

TD's can't have a grey area. Laws are laws and rules are rules!
