John,
Most of the guys, with only a few exceptions, that post regularly on this page have a tube, but no boat. That includes myself.

John,
I would be one of those poeple who enjoy fishing without a boat.
Been fishing all my life but just started from a tube last year and its some of the most fishing fun I have ever had.

But Jersey, if you had the chance to fish out of a boat, would you.

John, I have a boat and 3 tubes (allows me to take newbies). My boat is 20 years old, and, like most older pieces of machinery, seems to always have something go wrong. With 2 kids, a mortgage, and a teacher's paycheck, I really can't afford to buy a new one right now or keep paying for the upkeep of the old one. Last spring, it wouldn't start. I put it in the garage and got the tube back out. It is still there. Through this forum, I hooked up with a great group of tubers and now have no problem hooking up with them for some great fishing and fellowship. I fished about 40-50 days last year from a tube, and I really don't miss the boat very often. I do like to sight fish in the spring, and that is not easy when you're down so close to the water. A boat surely is better then. The rest of the time, however, I'll take my tube. It makes me be more thoughtful about lure selection, makes me fish slower, and it sure is nice to be sitting in the water during our hot summers. Heck, to me, it's even easier to fish in the tube in the wind, as I don't have to spend all my time wrestling the trolling motor. Besides, it feels good to yank out a big one in front of a couple of guys in a $35,000 rig with a 250 horse Merc! That being said, I rarely, if ever, turn down the offer of a ride in the back seat of a buddy's boat. I may be silly, but not crazy!

I am also an educator and really can't afford to buy a boat. I have fished from a boat and had a great time, but I really love fishing from a tube. Like fishbrain said, it is so much fun pulling a big fish in out of a tube. I do find that I fish slower and more meticulously. If I had the money, I would buy a boat though.

I also have two tubes and no boat. I do on occasion miss the wind in my face but it doesn't mean I don't fish. Kelly, fishbrain, fishinaddition and I have not missed many opportunities to fish, even in the cold months. Does this mean I would be opposed to takeing a back seat in a friends boat, not at all.

Fishman5, I am not down grading people who fish out of a tube,if that is the way it seems then I am sorry. I am coming up with a small idea, I dont want to post it yet, let me see what kinda feedback I get. But in no way I am saying that fishing out of a tube is bad, I know yall love your passion, nothing wrong with that at all.

John,
I was not reading into your comment as a negative point, I was just curious as to what you were talking about. As for fishing out of a boat, yes I would, but there are times when I love the tube. I even tried to enter a few tourney's with my tube, but was not allowed to. I also promised that I wouldn't finish in last either.

Ok guys, here is my plan, their are days That I wanna fish, have no customers, and friends are busy, our fishing...On my free days, all I ask is to pay gas for the truck and boat...I would offer free, but that could really get expensive for me. I could take 2 people for 50 bucks, that about pays for gas and oil. Like robertwb said, he is an educator and I know the school system does not pay that man enough to barely live If yall think this is a bad idea then I understand, but I thought I could help some out that do not get to get out in a boat...I know tube fishing is fun and relaxing, but when you can go out and catch 100-150 sandies in 4 hours, you really cant beat that. Now I am not low balling other guides, this is not everyday and if it gets out of hand, like 50-60 differnt people that e-mail me, then I cant do it, I was thinking a couple of trips for tubers.just a thought, I have been on the TFF for 3 years, and I am a Warden on this thread, thought I could help a little.

John, Thanks! That is a very nice offer. I would definitely be interested in joining you sometime. My freezer is sadly lacking in fillets these days!

John, I would be into that, only I don't know yet what my days off are gonna be like,...This is pretty much the adventure Idea I had, only I'm not much for finding Sandies, but when you can catch 150-200 crappies in same time from a tube,...WOW!!

I have fished out of a tube for many years. There are drawbacks of course, but there are many rewards as well. I hope to get a boat as soon as I can afford it, but I won't put away the tube. I did fish the last two years out of the back of my brothers boat, but he has since moved out of state. So it is back to the tube again. I have fished the last two weeks out at Ray Roberts and have done well. I will be going again this weekend! I usually fish Raybob, Fork or Grapevine.
