Well I ran by academy to pick up some 20 lb Seaguar Invix last Friday. Got there and all they had was 15 lb and below.
Looked around and found that they had just recieved in Stren Fluorocast. Figured what the heck, since I had a day of practice before the tournament I would give it a shot.
Picked up a spool of 17. (I wished Seaguar had 17!!) Spooled it up Friday night and played with it in the house a little bit. Felt pretty good flipping around with it.
Saturday went to the lake, and flipped with it all day. Caught several good fish 3-4 lb range and pulled them out of heavy cover at Squaw Creek pretty easy. Even had one fish wrap me up and it held long enough to get over to it and get it free.
I thought I found a new back up line when I couldn't get my normal InviX. And was especailly nice at 11 bucks a spool.
Sunday rolls around and I stick two fish first thing flipping. Land both without a problem. Next bite I had I broke off on the hook set. Not a problem, as it happens to any line sometimes, especially when flipping heavy cover. I strip off a couple of feet and retie. Very next bite, breaks off again. Starting to get a little frustruated. I give it one more shot as the line seems to hold when I pop it after the knot is tied. Strike 3! Breaks again.
I sat down and tied three seperate knots on the line trying to see if it would hold. Palomar, San Diego, and a Double San Diego none of them would hold up after being tied and tested.
Needless to say, I just undid the reel threw it into the rod locker and put one on that had 20 lb InviX on it. No problems the rest of the day.
I am pretty much a nut when it comes to my knots being tied correctly, always wet it during cinching it down, and always check the line after a fish.
Any one else had this problem with Stren Fluorocast? Hate to see it become another Vanish!

One thing I learned about flouro, only buy 100% trilene or invisx. Rest will burn you, havent tried BPS yet but hear its pretty good.

Yes I have! Pure junk as to most of the stren stuff out nowadays. It was also the 20 pound that I used. Very unhappy with it I will just stick with my suffix braid and mono.

Invisx is the best IMO. I hear the new Seaguar floro is the real deal. I just couldn't make myself shell out $50 for 20lb test. Glad the lottery is played every week.

I have had good luck with InviX, AbrazX, and even the Red Label for short stents. Cabela's had good house fluoro till they changed it about a year ago. BPS has been decent, and Trilene 100% is good.
This stuff felt great, was soft, castable and seemed to hold up till the next day. Oh well guess I will just stick with InviX

Fish Killer,Thanks for the info! I made a post asking about that line about a week ago and got little response. I have an unopened spool of the 15 florocast I guess I am going to take it back.
Why are all of the stores out of seaguar?

I've been using Sniper FC for about 2 months and really like it. I haven't had any problems to date.

bps 20lbs is freaking unbreakable, ok you could probably break it but with a double uni tied well I get scared about bending my spool when I try and break off when I get hung up, stuff if awesome. The only fluro I flip with but I use invisx in the 15 pound and bellow. I agree WHY DOESN'T INVISX HAVE 17 pound!
