The park is right behind and beside Home Depot, at the corner of Bellaire Blvd and Sam Houston Pkwy (Beltway-8). There is a very large body of water. I was passing it by on the Beltway, and did not have a chance to pull in to look. Has anyone in here fished at this location? A few years ago, there was only a creek running though this area. Now, there is a park with lots of water.

I have seen the body of water you are asking about and remember when it was being built. I checked it out on Google Earth just now, and I think it is actually a floodwater retention pond, so will be dry in dry periods. You can see a culvert leading to the adjacent bayou, allowing floodwater from the bayou (probably Brays Bayou) to enter the pond, then drain slowly back into the bayou when the bayou goes back down. Just a WAG.

I got to thinking about the Google Earth pictures, and now think that pond is not an ordinary flood water retention pond. The pictures show the culvert completely high and dry, yet the pond has alot of water in it. So, it could hold a fish population.

Hey yall,

I pass by the pond every day on my way to work.
It has held lots of water all the time, even during the droughts we had last year. Im really interested in fishing it myself.

Ive scouted the area once to see if maybe I can see something jump out of the water or watch the banks to see if any spawned schools swim by, but nothing yet. I do see some natural wildlife around (snakes, frogs, etc.)

Havent seen anyone fish it though. I wouldnt be surprised if there is fish there, its connected to Brays bayou (which does have fish). If there aint any fish, it will have some in a couple of years.

Theres also the ponds that are on Westpark, between Eldridge and Hwy. 6. Theyre also connected by Brays Bayou. Ive been meaning to scout that out as well.

Went walking there this morning, saw 1 person fishing. All I could see was a bobber. Activity in the water that appeared to be carp. Definately saw a jumping carp in the bayou that runs along the backside.

Actually I've fished there before .
Types of fish I've caught .
Bullhead catfish
channel catfish
Bluegill
I've caught them all on nightcrawlers.
I'd say its an ok spot .
I've caught them at night tho, not sure how day fishing is .
I'm hopping to pull a bass out of there !!

Hi all,

Any place around Katy I could drop a line since I don't want to launch the boat tomorrow?

I may try that mall place in Katy.

Don't want secret spots, but just want to catch a couple for fun with the kid.

You can click on my sig, "Texas Google Bank Fishing Map" for places in Katy. About half of the places in/around Katy have been marked by me.

Keep trying.
If you caught bluegills, you're going to find bass for sure. Bass feast on bluegills.
