Howdy Folks, A large group of us are making our first trip to Fork and renting a lake house for a weekend in May. I'm going to try and fish the lake before we go. We will be staying near the dam and am curious on where to even start. I normally fish Pines, Tyler, and Gilmer. I'm not new to fishing, just new to Fork. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm located about 90 minutes from the lake.

There is a huge grass pad near the dam. Great for early morning topwaters and since your gunna be there in May that would be perfect. That is the main place I fish on that lake. Some big ol pigs on the dam too. hope it helps

Run up little caney (CAREFULLY!) and fish around the island in about 4 ft of water...grn pmkin senkos work best for me, maybe flukes Tx rigged w/ 1/16 oz weight. Got to have grass. My best fishing of 2010 was done this way. Mid day times I throw a series 5 crankbait in about 12 to 13 ft mid way up the creeks.

May is also a good time to back out to 10-15 ft on main lake and secondary points with a Medium Crank. There are usually a lot of fish starting to pile up out there.
Also, this is my absolute favorite time of year to night fish. Summer is good, but the month of May can be awesome. There are still a lot of fish relating to shallow water, but they will back off the banks in the daytime, but move right back up at night.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!
