Just got back from Grapvine and hooked up with a 10inch LMbass on my 2nd cast. I waited on the last picnic table and watched the guys in the water FISH, but I was waiting to CATCH smile . When I spotted a school surfacing, I made my way down to the bank. I used a 99cent BPS white imitation rooster-tail 1/6(I like those better than the real ones) on 4lb test. I ended up catching about 7 sandies in 30 mins of catch and release. That was fast and fun action! (I was the guy in all black w/ the fishing hat on, in the black INTREPID) Get there at 8:15, you'll catch something. fish Stay Kool

bjfowle,

No problem on putting you on the fish.

I figured someone should be catching them as a work on my wife's rod. lol

Not sure when we're going back either... maybe Friday?

A friend of mine wants to come also, he just needs a pass from his wife. juggle

Oh well, will be out there some time in the next week.

I was out there last night, me and my son. I caught 2 very little sandies before I left. I never got into the schools though, they seemed to be heading my way a few times but either passed me by or went the other way. It was fun nonetheless. I spent most of the night trying to figure out a new reel. I finally broke down and decided to try a baitcasting reel. I bought a real cheap combo at Wal-mart and was practicing with it, since it has been forever since I have used a baitcaster. I think I must have gotten the one from Wal-Mart that everyone tried out at the store, cause it seemed to have all sorts of issues, but I got most of them worked out. I spooled it with 6lb Spiderwire mono, but I think I put too much line on it, so I will have to take some of it off. Once I got tired of fighting with that reel, I switched to my old trusty Zebco 33 (I know, I know, but it works, and I can cast it just as far as everyone else out there with their spincast reels). Then my Zebco started acting up, but being an expert at taking apart the 33, I was easily fishing again in about 5 minutes.

I was the guy with the 4 year old son out on the very edge of the point there, closest to Omega 4, I believe. I would have joined the rest of you guys for some fish talk but my son decided that he wanted to fish this time, so instead of him either casting over someones line or head (which he did to me, more than once) I decided to stay away from everyone else for the most part. I've had better days out there, that's for sure, but I have got to keep practicing with this baitcast reel until I think I have the hang of it, then I will drop down a little more money to invest in a better baitcast reel. Hope everyone else out there had fun.

I was out there last night as well. I was in the kayak and as usual the Maroon A&M shirt. I won't be out there for a couple of days as I am heading out of town. Good luck to those who go this weekend.

Hey laughing247.....I'm not a moderator and I don't want to be rude, but that link you provided is not what I think most folks who browse this forum want to see. For one thing, a lot of kids are on this forum and that link could in no way be considered appropriate.

Just something to think about.

Hey all,

Got out to GV again tonight with my kids and my 8 y/o snagged one the sandies - but that was it for us. The lake was seriously busy with boaters and wakes were knockin' us over. Much more peaceful in the AM!

Met Rudy tonight and a few others. I continue to learn more and more from all you guys. I have to say this is a real kick reading the posts and actually getting out and meeting people. Very very cool for a serious newbie to this whole world.
