Went out to Murrell last night. Caught 3 fish total in about 2 hours, 2 LMB and one sandie. Using rooster tails on all of them, had a 1/16 oz. that I caught the two LMB on, but it wasn't getting out there far enough, so I tied on a brand new 1/8 oz white rooster tail. Third cast caught the sandie. Bad thing was that I normally cut off one of the hooks on the treble so that there is only two hooks instead of the three, but I did not have my pliers with me so of course I hooked the sandie inside the mouth with all three hook points. It was dang near impossible to get out, luckily it was in the mouth and not in the gills. Thanks goodness I was able to borrow some pliers from another fisherman (Pretty sure it was Rudy, but it has been a while since I saw him out there so I wasn't completely sure, either way, thanks for the pliers). Next two casts I got hung on the rocks but was able to break free, forgot to check the line, next cast, lure went flying into the lake, line did not follow. Oh well, good thing that they are only 2 bucks to replace or I would be really mad.

What part of Murrell Park do you fish at? I went there yesterday from 6 to 7 and didn't get a bite!

Well, remind ME to re-introduce myself next time. I plan on heading out there again tomorrow (Sunday) at least for a while, probably early afternoon, maybe even before lunch. If anyone else is heading out there, come by and say hi, and bring plenty of rooster-tails, cause you'll need them and you will lose them...

I got out there late after dinner and right before the Mavs started there was a guy using a spinning rod and 6lb line chunking a worm that was getting bit pretty good but kept losing his rigs in the rocks, you know how that goes JY.About 8:15 sandies started busting the water all along that point ,you didn't have to throw out very far to catch them but they were lil pee wees 8/10"ers but a blast to catch, they ran 15-20 mins then it got dark ,figured I'd head home and catch the rest of the game!!Good times!! wink

I got plenty of Roosters, but I can't cast a 1/8th very far, let alone when it's windy....did you add a split shot or egg sinker or something to get it out further?

Oh yeah, got into the boiling sandies today Rudy? Think they are starting their summer evenign routine?

I think primetime is still in the future who_knows but we are getting closer.I have been kinda carolina rigging my 1/4 oz rooster below a swivel & 1/8 or 1/4 oz bullet weight on a 12-18 inch leader thats a lil heavy for most folks but I have 6 1/2 ft rod amd my hi-speed baitcaster spooled w/15lb.mono so this combo has been working well for me! Lets me chunk it out a ways and pretty much burn it back in. wink

It's hard to go wrong with white, or chartruse but any color will work as generaly when they are schooling,it's a reaction bite. Most of the bait they are chasing are small so ,I would recommend looking at Worden Rooster tails the model"Vibraic" 1/4 oz. has a smaller body than the regular or standard models, about the same size as the bait they are chasing,I've had really good luck with them.Pretty much chunk and wind slowing in down to keep it just below the water. Also sometimes you need to give them a good yank when they hit the water to make sure the blade is turning,BTW it's a killer bass bait as well!Good Luck

Sorry, I made a mistake in my first post, it should have been that I was using a 1/8 oz and switched to a 1/4 oz. to cast it out farther... I'm stupid...

Rudy, I was out there from about 3 - 6 on Sunday, didn't catch a dang thing, but it was fun regardless..

Must be moon phase or weather or something. I went to my little hidden spot near GV and fished from 7 to 9 without so much as a bite. That little lake usually produces at LEAST 3-4 fish a night. Glad I wasn't the only one struggling.

Rudy, are you tying the swivel to the line, and then attaching the Rooster straight to the swivel, or tying on a seperate leader, and then tying the rooster to that?

You'll have to show me your rig next time I see you out there.

Heading out any time this week? It's waaaay to hot for me lol, but I brave it if I think I'll catch some fish lol.
