Long story, but my paddle snapped in half Sunday while out at Grapevine. It was a Caviness CavPro that i've had for a few years. I'm in the market for a new paddle and I want a good one! What should I get? $250 and below is my price range, and I need a 240cm paddle (Diablo is really wide). I'd also like it to be a little lighter that that CavPro, it felt like a brick after about an hour of paddling. Thanks!

I rock the pelican one with the yellow blades and have no problems with weight in the salt. But i crank on wrenches and swing sledge hammers all day so im a little used to it lol.

I got this one last summer and like it a lot. Actually went with the slightly bigger blade and much prefer it. Aquabound Manta Ray Thought I wanted a Werner skagit until I held them both and realized the skagit was about 8 ounces heavier and 70 bucks more expensive. The weight specs on paddles online are gonna be for the 220 cms, the 240s will be substantially heavier. One of the dudes with Reel something or other in his name was real high on these custom all carbon paddles that are super light at a great price. Onno Paddles. I was afraid of the all carbon blade though. They're a little more brittle and delicate. I use mine to slap at snakes like a girl on occasion and also to knock crank baits off of limbs after a bad cast. Happens more often than I'd like to admit.

I use mine as a push pole when the water gets to shallow and I dont feel like standing up. Ive got a new slogan for pelican "Most durable 10 pound paddle on the market"

Take a look at the Accent Clearwater Edge Blade paddle. I use their Diamond series paddle with that blade and it's been fantastic.

I use the Carlile Magic, black with yellow orange mix blades. It powers my Tarpon 120 plenty fast and has held up to plenty of pushing of the bank and bottom. I don't think you can beat it for the price, $69.99 at Academy.

If you have a low paddling stroke, you might look into the Adventure Technologies A-T Ergo.
I've got the carbon fiber shaft to save on weight and fiberglass blades for beating off nessie and the occasional potlicker.

I never understood why someone would need a "light" paddle unless they were racing.

The real thing is less fatigue after paddling for a long time. Really anything lightervthat the paddle I had would work.

I dont usually have a problem with it either, Ive never spent more than $40 on a paddle. Only have had trouble once, that was paddling with a 15-20mph wind in my face and going up current at SLP which has some crazy currents. Ended up just getting to a sand bar and walking for awhile to save the arms. Not bad on a calmer day though

Have owned several. Marine Raider @ Academy is only $24.99 If you don't like it you can always throw it below deck & use it as your back up paddle for the money. I have a few of them & they hold up well, are light weight & comfy w/black foam PADDING not rubber grips. If you drop them in the water they float for a long time. the only thing i dont care for is they are Black in color(hard to see) i just stuck reflective tape all over mine. have seen others use white plastic spray paint on one side for better vis. i definitely want my paddle to be seen at night!!!!

Zombie, I had that paddle for my spare kayak and I let a buddy use it on our trip down the Devils river last year. It broke on a rock the first day.
