I have a 2006 Skeeter with 115 Yamaha. Boat/motor has been used very little and is like new. Motor sat for about 5 months and tank was about 3/4 full. First trip out, had performance issues (would not idle for very long and would shut down if once in gear). The boat ran great once on plain. Is this something I can put Stabil and/or Seafoam in and run the motor or should I consider taking it in to have checked out? I just didnt want to take the boat in, pay someone $200-300 for something I can do here at the house. Also, if it is recommended to take in, is there a good place to take it around the North Fort Worth/Saginaw area? Thanks folks.

I just got my Yamaha 2003 150 out of the shop for a similiar issue. My boat wouldn't get on plane very easy and then ran fine. Mine don't sit like that one you described though. I would for sure get rid of that old gas, its too late for StaBil. They had to clean my fuel separator filter to fix mine. They first thought it was a diaphragm (there are 3 on my boat)on the fuel pump. I'm certainly no mechanic but I do listen to the technician when he tells me what went wrong. Mine cost $400 but that included some other items, not many. I live in Arkansas and have maybe the best Yamaha technician anywhere working on mine. A reputable tech can do the job.

Alright....thanks for the info. I will give him a call. Is he mobile or does he have a shop in Hurst? I prefer the smaller independent people....they seem to be more honest and do better work.

He rebuilt carbs. for me,not sure I would recommend him. Several pieces were missing from my carb assy. when I took it to the dealership and had them reworked after spanky rebuilt them. I have talked to people that have had good things to say about him though. I heard he worked for fun and sun in Hurst, as a boat rigger maybe call and check his credientals there. Good luck!!!

Just my way of thinking on this, but i do think now
it's time for Creek God to step back up and explain a
few things & questions that Spanky has asked him to do,

I agree. If a person is going to make a claim against a professional he should back his claim with facts. You don't just bad mouth someone and go hide behind a bush. Let's see you come out of hiding and explain.

Just wanted to take the time to give a thanks to Spanky's Boat Repair (David). Ended up having major clogging issues in the carbs and took 2 good cleanings to get all the trash out, not to mention putting the carbs on 3-4 times to find out there was still trash present. David was great to work with and I watched the entire time (simply because I know very little about boat motors and I wanted to learn something). David took the time to answer all my questions and also showed me how to perform routine maintenance. Carbs are back on and motor fired right up. Fuel pump still needs to be replaced which we will get to next weekend but motor is running great. Carbs cleaned, carb kit replaced, lower unit oil changed, and impeller changed all for what I thought was a fair price. I will never bash anyone on a live forum but I will ALWAYS promote excellent service when I receive it. If anyone is having problems with their boat or motor, give him a call! (and prior to last weekend, I had never met David)
