Potlicker- In fishing... Is a man who is too lazy to go find fish on his own, so he looks for someone who is already on fish and then he moves into that man's spot.

Have yall ever had a problem with this ^??

On saturday I was out scouting some spots for a friend and ran into a tourney team who did this to me. I had a little sweet spot going catching a fish every few minutes; fishing really slow. Some were quality fish too! A few of the tournament guys were very nice and came by and asked questions and continued down to start fishing. EXCEPT one boat (you know who you are if your reading this) decided they were going to come up and start throwing traps and cranks into my area. Casting within inches of where my bait was landing and at times getting their boat within 10 feet of mine!! This went on for the last 2 hours of their tournament. I kept blocking them off from cutting in between me and the bank I was fishing the whole time... Pretty ridiculous and sad if you ask me!!

Well, let's hear some names or describe the boat. One way to stop that kinda nonsense is calling them out on it.

Any wagers?

Turn your boat around, trim up, fire up the big motor and rinse their pots off for em.

I fished out there saturday. I do not recall seeing a red and white pro craft. There were alot of boats on the lake saturday. I would have just told them that they were to close and to please back away.

Where I was fishing there was aboat every 25 yards as far as you could see in any direction!

I had a guy come right by me in a creek running his boat right next to me within 2 foot from my boat with big engine. No respect! I always turn my big engine off and drop trolling motor down and troll past them a good ways then fire up big engine and go on my way.

I fish tournaments as well and I understand you're paying to win.. But if you can't find fish on your own maybe you shouldn't be fishing that tournament.. Just saying some guys out there won't be as nice as I was about it on the water!!

I would rather people run their big motor past me in the river. The fish are used to the noise of the big motor. By the time someone shuts the motor down, gets up, unzips life jacket, stomps to the front of the boat, bangs around and drops trolling motor, and then goes past me and then goes through with stowing the trolling motor and firing up the big motor again.....the fish are on high alert. Just use the big motor and get passed me...

That's the way I do it and that's the way I prefer others to pass me. No disrespect meant to anyone.

As nice as you.... really? Its nice to not say anything to the people while on the water during the incident, then call them out on the internet the next day? I dont think nice the the word I'd choose for that, but to each his own I guess. hammer

Just wondering. Its ironic that you said you were scouting for a friend lol but then talk about people needing to find their own fish...
