In your opinion which one has the most photo like view? They are nearly the same price.

Those units are too new for a honest experienced comparison.
The specs. will give you an idea.
The Humminbird has a higher resolution display.
Both use the same imaging frequencies.
They have the power.
The Humminbird unit has 2 additional 2D frequencies and the Lowrance is only Down Scan.
The Humminbird has a 50 channel GPS receiver and the Lowrance has a 16 channel GPS receiver.
The quality of images depends on the skill of the user.

Using a HB 788, I found that to get the more picture perfect down image, you need to be moving 2-5 mph

I have my HB 597 mounted and have taken it out twice. I'm still getting it setup for my preferences, but am definately impressed. The picture on the DI is fabulous and that was in real murky water.

I can't compare it to the Lowrance unit but I'm very happy with mine so far.

got the dsi Installed , have not been on the water yet.

only downside so far is that Lowrance has changed the mmc card reader to a sd micro mini ..little dissapointed in the "waterproof compartment"...took a little quality out "in my opinion"so have to now buy a new chip , or buy a sdmini reader recorder.

guess thats is "marketing "

You should have learned by now that the one you own is the best.

still have not been on the water..
good news on the dsi , when you buy a mini-sd card with adapter
20 bucks for a blank one.
you can load the lakemaps you already own , also Lance Vicks "boatlanes"..

bad news is you cannot turn off the "caption" on overlays..
"clutters the screen" also has very few "icons" to work with.

update on water to follow

ok , had the elite 5 dsi in the water..dissapointed in the menu..
cannot adjust sensitivity..."must be easy button"somewhere
background color is limited..
less than 10 feet equals just clutter.(dirty water)over 20 feet equals dsi image , however not very sharp..
notice this is the first trip out with unit ......more to come
