I'm looking at the Bassmaster classic standings and I'm a little confused. For example, if an angler catches a weight that totals 14-5, is that equivalent to 14.5? I am confused as to what the dash means. Any help out there?

Actually, there is a difference... 14.7 would be 14 and 7tenths of a pound, 14-7 would be 14 lbs 7oz. Most local tournaments use the hundreths system of weighing, this is to lessen the chance for a draw... Hope this helps.

I thought I would mean like 14 lbs 5 oz. Maybe I'm wrong.

Chris is correct 14-5 is 14lbs 5 oz. 14.5 is 14 1/2 lbs or 14 lbs 8oz. There is 16oz in a lb

Correct, and 14.75 would equal 14-12... It's really not complicated.
