Pulled out 4 bass, a nice crappie and what's crazy is I caught a yellow bass out of a pond that's less than an acre in size. Crazy!

looks like it is legal size for keeping and thus eating I would assume...what is the problem??
especially in ponds where they will get stunted if some are not kept out of them..........

Contrary to what some people think, largemouth bass are not sacred.
It was a lot of fun. I released the rest and kept these for dinner tonight. I just had never heard of a yellow bass in a small pond.

Nothing wrong with keeping the bass.

It is crazy to catch a yellow bass in a small pond.

Does the pond have any relatively close access to a creek?

It is kind of close to the Trinity, maybe a flood at some point. I saw a carp roll in there too. Lots of life in such a small pond, maybe 3/4 acre.

Must be from the river.....flood or bird perhaps.

No telling what else is in there.

That is a freshwater slam. My relatives have a stock tank in the flood plain of a small creek which I assume deposited crappie, gar, and bass since they have never stocked it.

Nice catch..eat the bass...they do over populate easily in small ponds.

No big deal about yellow bass in small ponds. Yellows are native to texas and show up just about anywhere. Las Colinas is full of em and it's a "small pond" with no river or creek running into it. I have caught them in stock tanks in the middle of nowhere. Big deal!
