Spent last week offshore Galveston, made the long haul to Gunnison for an overnighter. Arrived right at nightfall, with no sign of tuna. After about an hour of fishing poppers and chunks, finally had a 60 pound YF on. That was followed shortly there after with a 75 lb YF. Around 11:00 pm the third YF, a fat 25 lber hit the deck followed by the last one around 40 lbs. They never really fed up high, and it didnt fell like there were many fish around. Fortunately, the five of us on the boat know how to work it, and we made sure someone was always throwing a popper at all times. Ironically all of the hits came from the same exact spot, it seemed we had to let it settle down for 30-45 minutes after getting hit. Also had a couple of big AJ's, one of which hit my opopper. What is an AJ doing hitting a popper 165 miles offshore? Rolled out around 2:00 am for the Gardens and some grouper fishing, to no avail. The Gardens were a parking lot at sunup, we had two Wahoo hits but didnt get hooked up. Headed back grateful for our tuna..... will have pictures and video to follow in next few days. Thanks to my cousin, Ted Farmer of Galveston for another great trip.!

Nicely done fellows! We spend the weekend out as well. We didn't make the trek to Gunny, but instead spend the night looking for swordfish. We got one to the boat, but that's about it. We did ooookay at the Gardens trolling for hoos. Got 3 big hoo's to the boat, some blkft, and kings. We were in a 36' contender if you saw us out there...

Again, great job guys!

So you put a sword in the boat? If so...way to go! We were gonna try that put the Yellowfin made us work harder than we wanted. As far as seeing you at the gardens.....like saying you were in the Ford at the Superbowl! That place was way to busy. Honestly though, that might be you in sunrise photo...wait I didnt post that one. Let me see if I can get it up, may have a great photo of you!
