I know this is a repost but I got I little bit more info if anyone wants to help them out. They are looking for any carp species of any size. There is only one guy there so they won't pick up. You will have to bring them the fish. They have one common carp in the tank around 20LBS. If anyone wants to help them out contact Christopher White 512-295-1100 ext. 8500. He is the curator of the auquariums at cabelas.

Is this the Buda location? Do they still have the giant buffalo or did she eventually pass on?

The buff isn't there anymore. If you are going to give a fish please don't give a trophy fish. They end up dying. 15lbs max is the limit I would take from any body of water in the austin area. That is all we need is another 30-40lb carp taken from it's waters and put on display only to jump or die. Leave the trophies in the lake, curb your egos.

He doesn't want trophies. All he wants is some carp in his tanks. And if I can help him I will..we have a chance to actually show people the fish up close and maybe throw some carp education their way.

Actually, the smaller fish adapt to captivity better than the bigger fish do. The 17 lb common I caught and took to the Ft. Worth store has gotten huge. The bigger a fish is, the harder it is to successfully move, especially when you don't know what you're doing (not trying to be mean, but I know how hard much it takes to properly transport fish). I'd say 10-12 lb fish would be perfect, but that's just me.

I haven't been to Cabelas in a while, maybe I should make a run over there to stock up on stuff and see how big that fish has gotten.

He is pushin over 20 for sure but the glass messes with the eyes. I want to get that largemouth they have on the end of my line. He is bigger than the carp.

Need a set-up that runs into the 1000's to transport big fish alive and safely. If they don't wanna help it may be better to pass on it. Go get some small ones out of a creek or something, they can be kept alive with chilled water for much longer than the big ones.

Zach, that is the one I caught at LBL (when it was still Town). Mark helped me transport it up to Ft. Worth. It eats range cubes from your hands. Tim said it will eat several range cubes in a day, so no wonder it has gotten so big. I feed it every time I go up there.

There are some good looking ones in Onion Creek less than 3 miles from Cabela's. Saw one in there today. If they would help tranport it would pretty easy to get one.

where about on onion creek? I'm in Kyle and looking for some good sight casting to carp on the fly. We used to fish under 35 eastwards just past the fence and dam, but not sure I am brave(or stupid) enough anymore to trespass

That's where I'm talkin. It's west of 35, not east. If you want to find a good way back there I'll meet you sometime. I live right there. I walk from my apartment.
