Is it possible to look at the different lakes on my computer? I'm scared to pug it in and try, I don't want to screw it up.

The cards are not easy to screw up. Just make sure your sd card is locked. I have done all sorts of thing to mine and have had no issues. Download the new pc software. You have to have you card in a reader. The new pc software seems to work without their proprietary reader that was needed with Navplanner. You can also do sd card updates. The new software is 1000 times less buggy than the Navplanner. Heres the link. http://store.navionics.com/faqs/installation_help

But no you need to purchase what was stated above to do it. There is other software out there that will read you card but they are way over priced. Your best bet is NavPlanner2 Tracker Tim, is this link you posted only for new Navionic cards?

I have an 08 and a 2010 card. I didnt try my 08, because it already has all the data. If I had an 09, I would try it.

What's the difference between the PC Software and the NavPlanner2?
It wanted to charge me $24 for the PC Software for HotMaps South. What's included? Is it like the NavPlanner2 but you must have Navionics card?
I have the old Hotmaps Explorer. Looking for more detailed map info.
Thanks

Tracker Tim when did you buy your 2010 chip? the updates are only suppossed to work for chips purchased after Oct 2010. they didnt come out with a 2011 chip rather they are selling the 2010 and providing updates. how do you like the updates? does it add alot of the old information back?

Is that software link you posted only for updated to the SD card or does it allow you to view the maps on your PC like the original poster was asking? Thanks! Second part of the that question is: If you can view the maps on your PC with this software can you view your 2008 card on it?

Both. You can download the pc software or update your card. You have to have your card connected to your pc or they will want to charge you the 24.00.
After you install the pc software you can view any card you insert.
