I have a deer lease just upstream from Castell, is it worth chasing cats with the kids in the off-season?

there are some channels and flatheads, but I've never fished the Llano for cats. The little guadalupe bass are aggressive and easy to catch. I've caught a bunch on a little inline spinner.

The Liano is awesome fishing. Usually tough to find enough bait. Some big flathead in there for sure. Good luck !

Find a place to get perch before you go. Should be some place to buy them on your way. Check around at bait stores.

my great grandfather use to catch big yella cats downtown by the bridge. in llano. he would use live suckers for bait. hook em in the back ya kno like you do blue gill. and cast em up under a ledge. i think he caught some nice ones that way. ive never fished it much but a time or two. theres quite a few catfish in that river. theres some pretty deep holes too. my cousin has a place on the river just down the road from castell. by scotts slab i believe it is.

Yes Yes Yes. I admire you for having a deer lease in that area. Very beautiful country. In my opinion, that river is one of the best in the state. It's been about 13 years, but we pulled several flatheads outta that river near Castell. We did well with small perch on limb lines. However, That's where I first noticed someone using soap bait. We took that concept and ran with it. Was great.
