if you watch slowly, i did try that trick once... like the guy on the video... he says sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. LOL!

truth be told, i would have put that rod back in the rod box had Casey not been taping.. I dont waste time on those big backlashes... LOL! i knife em!

I have been using this method for many years. Two things that I do differently are:
1. I put my thumbnail on the line
2. I rotate the spool 3 times
It always works for me. I haven't cut one out in over 10 years.

Good info, but in all fairness, thats one reason I carry so many rods, by the time he got that out, I would have got another rod and caught at least 1 more fish

Don't laugh,a friend of mind in the past caught the lake record corvinna on that rod.I'm not kidding,just don't know if calli or braunig.On liver.
