You might try westlake park, I think it cost 2 bucks to get in or shady shores. Ever since the corp. of engineers started closing off the lake in the mid 80's it's getting tough to find a decent spot to fish unless you are somekind of marathon hiker. Good Luck.

Lester,
What are you using? I have been fishing that park by lake view marina almost every morning and am doing pretty well. I sometime catch catfish, but most of the time I am catching sand bass. I'm the guy standing in the middle of the water fishing with a jig. If you see me I can point out a spot that I usually catch catfish at.

Big fish,
I will try to make it out there this week in the morning. What time are you usually there? I`ve been usin whatever i can get at the store since i dont have a throw net.(shrimp, nightcrawlers, doughbait, etc.) I usually dont go there too much. Spent most of my time at arrowhead. Maybe fished the park your at twice in the last month or so.

Lester,
I usually fish very early in the morning around 6:30 am. I'm the guy with the floating rod holder and stuff wading in the water and fishing with jig. Lately, I'm beginning to notice more and more people fishing with jigs and spoons over there and beginning to get a little crowded. I'm going to leave my throw net in the car just in case you drop by. Hope you didn't think I ignored your posting, it's just that I don't get on-line too often.
Holy cow....I have a fish on!!

Lester,
I fished a lot in the Shady Shores area last year for catfish. I fished about 150 yards to the right of the ramp off Lakeshore Dr in Shady Shores (Looking at the ramp from the parking lot [Straight in front of the houses on the lake]). To get to this ramp from Lake Dallas go down Lakeshore towards Shady Shores, and proceed straight past the community center on Lake Shore drive (you would go right to get into Cielo Ranch). At the first stop sign make the right, as this is your only option. As you go down the hill after the stop sign there is a place you can pull in and park about 50 yards down just before the left turn. I park there and walk straight down to the lake. I use a cast net to catch shad, and then fish with cut on circle hooks. I would wade into the water waste dip and then cast as far out as possible. The action really picked up around 7:00 at night this time of year. If you need more info email me. I still take my canoe out there occassionally. Usually, catch mostly 2-3lb. channel cats. Robert

<< the floating rod holder and stuff >>
What is it? Is it to protect the reel from touching any water? How? How to use it? Perhaps I need to go to Basspro to find one.

It's this round foam with netting around it. The one I got has two rod holders and two bait holding compartment. When you land a fish, you can put the fish into the net first and then remove the hook. You will lose less fish this way and fewer cuts on your hands from the fishes.
