I know it probably varies based on conditions, but what is a good all around hook size and style to use with soft plastics like senkos and baby brush hogs? I have some 2/0 offset worm hooks, but almost feel like Theyre too small once I have the bait rigged on the hook. I believe it was on big bass battle where I heard offset hooks are not as good as the straight shank.
I'm sure this question is probably more about preference and kind of like what boat is better, but I would appreciate any input I can get.

I like the offset becuase it keeps the bait on the hook better for me. I would say 3/O is a good all around hook for me.
Thanks,

5" and 6" senkos Gamagatsu 4/0 EWG. Baby brush hogs 2/0 EWG. EWG = Extra Wide Gap.

It was big bass battle that they agreed that a straight shank (wide gap) had better bite to landing ratios. I agree 100%. I also switched from a higher priced hook to the H2O hooks at academy. On a baby brush hog since it is not a (bulky bait) bait with a thick body you can use a 2/0, whereas a fluke or senko style bait you need to go up to a 4/0. As far as your bait sliding down, a bottle of super glue goes forever since it takes one drop to hold your worm up the hook. Of copurse this is my personal findings, and some feel differently. GOOD LUCK!

If wacky worming Senkos, I use Gamagatsu 2/0 finesse with weedguard. I then take my pliers and bend the shank and point offset so that they are not flat and in line like they came out of the package. This is a trick that was taught to me and results in good hook-ups in the roof of the mouth most of the time as the hook turns and twists. I know is seems like a small hook, but I can't argue with success. Very, very few missed fish.

I assume you are slipping a O ring over your senko, and then running your hook between the O ring and the senko?

H2O 5/0 straight shank with some heat shrink on it. I use this hook now for everything from 5 in senkos to beavers. Need to get some smaller ones for bbrush hogs and other smaller profile baits. Good cheap hooks

It is actually just a Palomar that I tied to the shank of the hook instead of the eye. It is still in the testing phase, but so far it has worked well. It really allows the hook to stinger up like a scorpion. Since I mainly use braid, I am trying to find the best way to do this without breaking off. The only thing I am worried about is the knot rubbing where eye touches the shank. Time will tell. I will be at livingston either tomorrow or this weekend to really put it through its paces hopefully. That is 50 lb braid. I like to pull them out of the nasty stuff.
