I would bow before Evan O'Brien and thank him for allowing me to finish first. I think we would all do that.

If you won a tournament would you publicly thank those that helped you along the way? I mean there are those that have the knack for finding their own fish. There are those who have to use their complete network to even compete. Then there are some who have confidence in their own ability but still network for self gratification.
So...given that you are the fisherman that needs outside help to compete...would you simply boast on a win and remain quiet or would you give credit where it is due when others congradulate you?
I only bring this up because I utilize my network regardless of my talents and would feel guilty for not at least mentioning the person(s) that helped me along to my victory. Sure I would still have to execute the plan but thats the easy part. Being put on fish day in and day out is a huge advantage. Any thought or opinions? I would thank one and only one, and that's the good lord upstairs for allowing me to take in his wonders.........

At the rate I'm going, I'll never make it to the podium. No worries....
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I think buying (or getting) help happens all the time. It is one of those things that we all know happens but nothing is ever said or published that they hired somebody to show them where and what to fish. Some pros have been saying some things about it whether they find their own or need help. It is one of those unwriten laws of tournament fishing and I think it finally came out a few months ago in black and white. Heck there was a thread on here about it. We all know it happens and until it was made public about getting help we didn't accept it as the truth. I realy do not give a flip what those guys do and I will continue to follow and watch them in the future.

i would thank them privately and ask if they want me to acknowledge them publicly. I have helped and been helped, it's a two way street. If I help someone and they do well, or win, I would expect a thank you privately or I wouldn't help them again. Jay Kendrick... you better be thanking me for the kolaches and dr pepper! even though you didnt drink any of the dr peppers... LOL! i promise i wont eat as much (the whole day) next tourney LOL!! I was keeping my energy level up just in case we happed to get "A" bite... LOL!!

as a coangler, all you need to worry about is having enough baits to fish what your pro is fishing.... i would take my go to baits in spinnerbaits/crankbaits/crawworms/dropshot/jerkbait.

Does it happen Big Jake?? Heck ya! I've been catching fish before hand and doing that for years! All you have to do is make sure you catch them on the lake your fishing the tournament on. The rules always say they have to be caught in a legal and sporting manner, and on that body of water...But they never say that exact day!

No one reads the articles anyways, and only the ones getting a check stick around to hear the winner say anything. Unless we are talking about the Elite series.

If you have sponsors you would thank them ... wouldn't you? That's part of the deal ... they sponsor you & you market their product.
If you paid for a guide I wouldn't worry about thanking him (publicly), but if this guide did you a favor (didn't charge you), you probably owe it to him to publicly thank him (but check w/ him b/f hand).
Other personal assistance would be your choice (that is, thanking them publicly versus privately ... which is common courtesy)& I don't think it matters one way or the other (well, maybe a wife might want to hear a public thank you - lol)

Congratulations for winning 1st place at Bassmaster Weekend Series on Toledo Bend this past weekend. A story has been written up and can be found at: http://www.abaproam.com/newsdetails.php?news_id=412 (Bryan wanted to use the pic of you w/ your fish, but it turned out a little blurry).
