So my first trip to fork was good if you consider falling overboard hiting a stump and spinning ur prop. So i launched at Lake Fork Marina and headed toward mustang creek my motor died after about 30seconds of being up on pad . Got her started agin and was sitting right in the middle of the boat lane(using boat lanes chip). Started to get on pad and right befor it planed out WHAM I hit a freking stump and spin my prop . No problem ill go back to the ramp and fix it I have all the parts and tools. Decide to fish my way back to the marina. My dad is up front with me trowing a d22 on a shimano cumara reaction rod with a revo winch on it. As he is realing the d22 in he hangs a stump when he jerks on the rod it goes flying out of his hands and overboard. He dives on his belly tring to get the rod Its too day so he beds farther overboard and just like that he is gone. If the lake is a bit lower its becasue my dad swallowed what seemed like at least enough water to lower lake fork at least a foot. Well we got the rod and my dad he was wearing his life jacket AMEN. We fixed the prop when we got home. What a day

Sounds like a normal day to me. Glad your Dad made it. Sank a few brush piles the past couple of days, and the water was so cold my hands hurt more than they ever have. Can`t imagine going all the way in.

Glad your dad's ok. I've been to Fork only once and it scared the heck out of me and my buddy. It was windy, we were in a 15 foot boat with a weak trolling motor. Hit stumps, caught 0 fish. We swore if we ever go back it will be with a guide!
Fishin' for fun!

Man I have had days like that I think my brothers boat is allergic to lakes. It will run fine at home launch from the ramp and everything goes wrong.

Bummer, that lake is intimidating the first time out and the next dozen or so, keep fishing it and you'll learn to love it.
Ride with Caldemeyer if you want to see how to get around the lake and added pucker factor!
