Dang Jerry. I was looking forward to competing with ya in the tourney.

That dude has some major issues.

Ill be there for the tournament and i think my wife should be there for the testing out the kayaks and hanging out with others. So that is two adults accounted for.

Now can anybody point me towards a decent motel or is it just easier to camp at the lake. I'm new to Texas and have to travel about 2 1/2 hrs to get there so any good info on places to stay would rock.

PM me if you have any info on where to stay so we don't make the thread full of useless info to others pls.

Sheppard AFB Recreation Annex on the South side of Lake Texoma is 45-60 mins from there. But if I were coming from Wichita Falls, I'd probaly pitch a tent at the park.

I told you I don't do Johnson Branch. The last experience there was one of the worst in my (long) life.

Sorry to hear that Jerry. Heck I was there too and I had a great time. Great people,and great facility.

A park store that was a 100' from were the pavilion was.

Even a beach for the kids to play.

Plenty of room for all to meet and great.

People even won stuff.

I even caught a decent bass on that trip!!

Not a great camping facility. I couldn't drag my wife back there. It was a good time except for the lack of water and electric in the RV sites in the heat of summer which made it miserable. IDB is a much nicer park (and more central).

REV TCF, sorry you won't be attending. We looked at IDB, but access to the water and proximity to the parking lots wasn't going to work.

The camping sites at Oak point are numbered 105-134.They are for primitive camping. But there is water each of the sites.

There are two loops, Juniper Cove, and Walnut that are for RV parking. Those sites are numbered 1-104. Each of those have electricity and water and, can be reserved in advanced of the shin dig.
If you think you might be coming and want a RV spot you might consider calling the park soon, to make sure you get a nice area.
I live pretty close to the park, so if there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know.

Looks like I'll be looking into camping the night before. What area of the lake are we going to be launching from and having the gtg at? That way i can get the closest camping spot i can find so I can drag my yak there or make my wife get up early and drop me off.

Click the link for google maps in my original thread. There's an icon for where the event will be held along with the launch for the tournament, and an icon for the closest tent camping sites.

On the map from the TPWD, we'll be at site C21 in the Overflow Campsite C. The closest overnight camping is #107 of Oak Point. It is out in the open, so the other sites Walnut & Juniper will be in a wooded area.

Ill be in for the tourney. I dont know if my fiancee will want to come or not.

Hopefully we'll get our canoe by then. Not sure if we're going to participate in the tournament, but we'll definitely check out the kayaks for DEMOS and the food.

Hey everyone, how many folks are planning on camping the saturday night after the tournament? or friday night before the tournament? I am thinking of doing one or the other but have not decided which yet.
