i just got back from hubbard and the sandies were hungry this morning. they surfaced around 7:15 this morning and fed til 8:00. i caught 20 sandies and one 11 inch lmb that was trying to fit in with the sandies. i kept 14 of the sandies. ranging from 11.5 inches to 16 inches. the 16 incher fought like a hybrid on steroids. i experimented with several lures today. rattle traps worked well. this cheap chrome slab i got at academy worked well too. i caught one with a white rooster tail. and the rest on 1/2 oz chrome lil george. it was a fun morning.

ckcrew, NICE, where you fishing off the bank at Windsurf? I took my son out there 2 weeks ago like you told me on Sat am and he got ahold of 1 nice sandbass. Me, I lose 2 slabs. But we had fun for a few hours.

this morning, i fished the cove by the power plant. the sandies were schooling really close to the bank this morning, pushing a huge school of shad right up to the edge of the water. it was really surprising to me to see such activity with clear skies with absolutely no wind. but im not complaining. i do have to warn you though that its really hit or miss in the summertime. so prepare yourself for mornings when sandies do not school at all. and on some mornings they will school a little out of your casting range. so prepare to jump in the water sometimes. i tell myself that on some mornings, i will not get in the water. but as soon as the sandies start to bust the surface, im waist deep in the lake. i cant help it. the schools will be a lot more frequent in late summer and fall but if you still wanna try for some summer sandies give it a try. and be sure to post and let us know how it went.

here is the map:

Well I went out there, I don't know if I was at the right location. I was at the park on the south side of the power plant I think it's Barnes Bridge Park. Anyway I did see one school of sandies surface but it was clear on the other side of the cove and there were a few boats there getting them but none for me. I did manage to get a couple small channels and about a 3lb drum. Thanks again for the tips, maybe I can get them next time.

After I left I drove by windsurf, looks like it could be a good spot to fish. close parking to where you fish so you don't have to hike all your gear.
