Does Bert and Ernie's store or the new store across the hwy sell minnows? They didn't in 2009.

I'll second the cast net. Basspro sells the 1/4" mesh nets. I have a five footer. I use it 90% of the time for small minnows in rivers, like the spot tails. Works great if you can throw a net.

Do you tear any nets hangin them on rocks or stumps? I've lost a few at the coast on the shell that way. What's the average price for a 5 footer? $30?

You do have to be careful of hang-ups at Reimers in the deeper water...I'll usually just throw in the boat ramp area, or right off the shoreline where it doesn't drop off to quick or over 4 feet...So you have a chance to wade out and release it..And you'd be actually surprised how many spot tails you can catch in 1' or 3' water down there...Just takes a lot of casts sometimes...

I paid about $60 for my 7 footer (1/4 inch mess) a Cabellas...I Need to get a 5 footer, easier to throw...And better for throwing off the banks, and less hang-ups with rocks, roots etc. IMO...I Think the 5 footers about $40, but that was several years ago...

And as for minnows at Bert+Ernies not sure, but it seems they won't usually start selling them until around 1st of March...I would call first... thumb

I always throw shallow, so, I don't get hung up very often. I don't blind cast for the minnows. I find them, then throw.

Paved roads? Wow! I won't know how to act. They should work to improve the primitive kayak/boat launch area. I hope they finish soon.

It's Southwest of Austin, otherwise known as the "Hill Country". I might plan another vacation there this year. I think it's one of the most beautiful places in Texas.

I'd have to agree with you. It is a beautiful place indeed. Colorado Bend St. Park is similar in beauty. And talk about remote... Check that out if your ever in the area in Bend TX.

Thanks for the info...

I'll try to call them next week, to make sure there open...Still early for the run IMO...But might try it down there Wednesday or Thursday, just to check it out and do some scouting upriver...But need to get some new clips for my Kayak rack...Have a different vehicle now, and the old ones won't work,,,,arrgggg
