Buy a piece of tightly woven nylon rope the same diameter as the original.

This time leave it a little long. Every time it gets worn a little, pull 6 inches through and cut it off. Put a new knot

What are you gonna us the rope for? To tie your boat? Tie an anchor to it? To tow other boats in? Different ropes for different needs!

put super glue on rope where it goes thru guide, will make it last longer

I keep a vehicle tow strap with the latching hooks at each end, mine is 20' and works great.
