Last year there was a Entomology class offered on Ray Roberts with Robert Woodruff as a teacher.
I wanted to attend but had to miss the class. Was anyone here able to attend? How was it?

Rob does several classes each year at places like Ray Bob, Broken Bow, the Guadalupe, etc. All are well attended and well-received. In addition to being a fly fishing guide for bass and trout, Rob has a degree in entomology from Texas A&M and worked in the pest control business for awhile, so he has the practical experience and formal education to bring to his subject.

I attended one of his classes at Broken Bow a couple of years ago and loved it. We spent the first day in the classroom (back of a fly shop) and the second day out on the stream actually sampling and identifying bugs. Rob also did a great job linking the bugs we found in or near the river with the kinds of flies to buy or tie to "match the hatch." He also invited us back to join the field trip (second day) of any future class as a refresher.

I highly recommend him and his class.

Echo that. I went to the Guadalupe session in 2009 I think it was.

I haven't attended one of his classes, but fished with Rob back in January. He is very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. Explained the reasoning behind all the flies we fished that day and what they were imitating. Great guy to spend a day on the water with as well. Here's his website if you haven't seen it already.

Well it sounds like attending a class might be a good idea. But I cant find a schedule of any seminars that he might have coming up?

Shaun

Here's his URL http://www.flyfishingfork.com/ From the looks of it, it might be best to just shoot him a message for updates. It is a bit vague.

I will also vouch for Rob and his class. Attended the class he taught on the Guadalupe back in December 2010. Very informative and well worth the time. Highly recommended. As far as I know, he does the class at least a year at Broken Bow and once a year on the Guadalupe. He told they were considering adding a second class on the Guadalupe due to demand and the response he has received. I am not aware of him doing the actual entomology class outside of those, but he does offer additional classes on bass, etc... Shoot him and email and he is good about responding quickly.

I have yet to fish with Rob, but plan on rectifying that in the near future.

I shot him a email from that site about a month or so ago and didn't get a reply frown
