Any suggestions for a name for the proposed fishing club and tourney circut? "Lone Star Tubers Assoc." Bubba Bassers", "Bassers United for Belly Boats Assoc aka "BUBBAs"?? "or some such thing, help think of something good!!! They funnier the the better, what do you guys think about doing two a month, one on a week night and another on a weekend?

I would like to see one tournament a month, and one meeting a month. I have always like meetings, cause it helps people get to know each other.

If anybody wants to get together and work out some details on a club, let me know Bylaws, Rules, Schedule, Website, etc.

as you know, i'm all for it! The name doesn't matter to me but I'm a little against night tournies. A few different reasons, not the least of which is visibility. We don't want someout in a tube out there getting run over by a boat.

I'd like to do two events a month, but on Saturdays. Maybe one pay tournament and a second as a get together with Hot Dogs and stuff afterwards. That way the club could offer a "Fun Fish" day and a tournament day. Members could come to either one or both.

My reason for trying tournaments on a weekday are simple, requests... several people who work in retail, hospitality and sales cannot fish a weekend tournament. Surely they should be included as well. Any suggestions?

Stuff like this is really difficult cause people have allot of dynamics in their life, other than fishing. My wife is bitchn at me now for wanting to fish this saturday. I may not be able to make it cause of a soccer game.

I agree with Kelly that maybe we should think of a non pay event even if only every other month as it would be a great way to get new people involved in our fun.

I am also usually on a very tight schedule so making more than one per month is hard but I think that multiple events would help ensure more people had access to a least one per month even if it is only a simple get together to try a new body of water.

hey everybody, everything sounds great, but my one piece of input would be to not have all the tourneys and meetings on the same day everytime. Ex...if you plan to have 10 tourneys then have eight on a sat and two on a sun. or something like that. Unfortunately too many people like to get sick on sat and someone has to drive to the hospital. I know you can't plan everything around everyones individual schedule, but I'm sure there will be other people who would need a sat every now and then too.

Hmmm....

One pay tourney and one non-pay tourney/meeting per month sounds good. As far as fishing larger bodies of water and fishing at night, it can be done. I've done it, however a few precautions must be taken; a whistle or horn is pretty important as is a single white light(required by law) visable 360 degrees and of course, a greater awareness of your suroundings and common sense. I'd hate to be a "honey did you feel that bump" incident. I believe Kelly is on target though, we will try to keep our first year tourney's on smaller bodies of water. Keep this discussion flowing and we will all benefit.

One other thing is that the tournaments must to be 100% payback. If expenses are needed to run the club, then dues need to be collected to cover them. What is left over goes to club fund other club activities or events.

meetings will serve for the "social" part
of it. Of course if you ask 20 people -

Another thing on the club name: I'm the wrong flavor for a "bubba" qualifier - same as "vato" would be for others. (laugh time) How about "waterswingers" or "we who dance with bass" or "texas floaters" or "bass floatness" or "tuber texans".

We should have a name that represents us all, As far as the 100% payback goes, I'm all for it . As long as I don't have to put my time and money into organizing, advertising, legal issues, travel, site selection, research, paperwork, measuring boards and other equipment. I'm not out to make a dime, any money left over, and I doubt there will be any, will go to future tournament advertising and starting an organization. If anyone feels they are up to the task, speak up now and save me some pain.

i would like to aim for a name not solely stuck on bass, because we all know fishing for other types of fish is competative too, esp them panfish!

Fishn'addiction - Here's the deal. A club requires it members to do allot of the things you indicated you don't want to do Time, Energy, Organizing, Paperwork, etc. Yes, you should not have to spend your own money and if you do should be reimbursed, but doing the other things is what being a club is all about. Members are not suppose to get compensated for spending time, energy, and organizing stuff for a club. If that were the case, I would have been getting compensated for the past several years, creating websites for various clubs, contacting people for free advertising, as well as other clubs for holding open events.
