Just curious on your thoughts about braid on spinning outfit.
What pound braid and what pound of leader do you use for finesse applications?

I have 20 and 30lb braid on my spinning reels. Then I will use everything from 20lb fluro to 6lb fluro. I usually use 16lb mono leader since most the water I fish is stained enough to get away with it. Plus the little heavier line is great for pulling good fish out from way back under docks or out of brush.

I only use braid because line twist sucks. Then you can use any fluro leader you want.

what about for finesse presentations....I usually use 6-8 pound flouro but can't stand the line twist at times...will 12-14 pound braid with 6-8 pound flouro leader work just as well??

20lb braid has the diameter of 6 lb mono. I heard that anything smaller than 20lb braid is tough to deal with because it is so small... Just tie a 4-6ft leader on the end of that.

Will never go back to straight floro on a spinning reel after using 20 pound Power Pro. No more line twist

I like 15# braid with a floro leader. Since I use a floro leader I have even gone to yellow braid. Sure is nice to see my line for a change.

30# (8# dia.) Spiderwire Stealth and 20# (6# dia) Power Pro. No leader unless water is gin clear. Never understood compromising the strength of braid with a mono or fluoro leader. If using a leader it's attached with a tiny Spro swivel instead of tying 2 lines together. Really though, I try to avoid the whole leader thing and let the braid do its work.

I've been using 20lb power pro with a fluoro leader for over 3 years now and really like it. I size the leader on what kind of cover and have used up to 17lb when fishing weightless baits in grass / pads. Leader length starts at around 15' each day. The longer leader casts better and I want the knot on the reel when I have the fish at the boat. I use a uni-uni knot because it's easiest for me to tie and I have never had the knot fail and I've landed fish up to 8lbs in cover with this rig.
Look up this topic on "Inside Line Magazine" from GYCB. Lots of good info from Gary Yamamoto on this.

The reason for a leader is to get more bites then by tying direct to braid.

The only disadvantage is when you get one of those double half hitches around the tip, ##@@#@#%%$##@, just as well cut and retie, I also use a flouro leader 90 % of the time.
