You can also fish for free at Camp Hueco Springs. It's a nice little campground with plenty of bank access. Small trout only though.

I did catch a 17" rainbow at Camp Hueco Springs this year and I have seen someone else pull in a nice one, but generally speaking they are pretty small.

you can catch some trout there, hopefully someone else will chime in that knows more. but don't overlook the light tackle bass fishing there. small plastic crawdads and weightless smaller "flukes" will keep you busy too. might even hook into a 3 lb smallmouth after breaks in the rapids!

so right in rapids or right before or after? I cast in running water and the lure wont stay down cause of the swift current, is that ok to keep fishing like that or should you put wieghts on it to make it sink a little, new to this whole trout deal, love fishing and just wanna learn so i can catch a few

awesome, so like maybe spec rigs or rooster tails might work? How about a tiny rattle trap, what do you think about that?

i get a roostertail at walmart. i dont know anythin about spec rigs. these are rainbow trout. pretty easy to catch i think. if you dont catch anything there than go to rio raft and fish just up from the bridge. 5 bucks to fish. thats what some tff members are doing i hear

For the people complaining about the stocking of trout instead of "native" bass, there is this little thing called water temperature. Once the fish are stocked, they will move dowstream away from the trout water. That is why they arent stocked. This is the usual occurrence in a bottom-draw dam. Thats the same thing that happened to the White River smallmouth fishery. Now its trout. But for some reason, this fishery is not cath and release with a restriction on bait. If you want to meat-hunt for trout, go elsewhere....
