If your just an average joe fisherman like me, who has a lot of backlashes, what is the best type of line to use? I use a braid now, but it doesn't seem to last long and it's time to respool. Is that normal for braid? Should I switch to a mono?

What do you use and why? Thanks.

Try p-line. For you it should be perfect.

No, braid should last a long time. Maybe Berkley Easy Cast mono would work for you. It's pretty soft and manageble.

When you say it doesn't last what are you talking about? Color fading or the line actually failing. The only time I ever have to change out braid is when the spool gets low from me changing baits.

Not a bad idea either.

I use flourocarbon for my plastic fishing becuase it is clear, sinks, and is as sensitive as braid. I use mono for crainkbaits and topwater etc becuase it floats and stretches. I have braid for when im fishing in hard cover. I have really come to like flourocarbon and that is probably my number 1. But mono and braid are good to. If you dont mind respooling every now and then and braid is working for you there is no point in fixing something that aint broke. Hope this helps

Well the last stuff I had I got from Basspro and it wore out. I could literally start to pull it out of my reel with the drag all the way down.

I looked up that P-line and it looks good. Thank you.

You got some bad braid. Get some power pro or tuf-line xp. I use both and have had good results with them.

If I am reading your message right, the braid slips on the spool even with the drag tightened down all the way. If that is the case, probably have the braid tied directly to the spool. Need to use a little mono backing or tie the braid to the spool and put some tape down over the braid before you fill the spool. I like to use mono backing myself.

Hope this is the problem you are talking about.

Yep thats it. I have heard about the mono thing before the braid, but my fat fingers don't work too well in tight spots! I will try it again. I think I might use some flouro as well and see how I like that.

Yep mono on the spool first then uni/uni knot to braid and finish spooling. Love braid!!

My bad. I thought you meant it was falling apart on the spool. You have to back it with mono. I usually do about a third of the spool in mono.
