I can't help but laugh when I read threads like this. Most everyone has an opinion and that is what they are-opinions. I personally believe that the reason Nitro's have a lower resale (if they really do when based on % of original price) is the reputation that they got early on when they first entered the fiberglass market. EVERY boat has lemons-don't believe it go to website like BBC and read the threads on the different brands. I had an '02 Nitro and had 0 problems with it. I have fished out of Skeeters (my friend has had quite a few problems with his ZX225) and Rangers. The Rangers might have had nicer "trim" work on them, but I didn't pay near as much money as they did and had fewer problems than they have. And most importantly I caught just as many fish if not more than they did. As you have read on here, many people have had good experiences with their Nitro's. If I went and bought a new one today I would definitely look at another one and would get whichever one fit my budget best with what I wanted on it.

Hummmmmm Nitro or Skeeter........... Skeeter the craftman ship that Tracker(nitro) puts into their boats is realy crumy. I cant understand why KVD fish's out of one besides geting paid too. What about the craftmanship don't you like about the new Nitros? I think they are great. To me there is only so much you can do to make a bass boat sooooooo much better than any other bass boat. They are all basicly shaped like bullets. Considering most fisherman spend the greatest percentage of time standing on a front deck casting. What more could you possibly be paying for? The things you hear that are good about Nitro are: They handle choppy water great, they have a huge amount of space to fish from, lots of storage, good speed and hole shot. Hmmmm what else do you need? If I want hand stiched leather seats, beautiful guage clusters, cool gadgets etc. then I will pay for that to be put in my vehicles cause we spend a hell of alot more time in them than most do in bass boats. Saw a brand new Skeeter the other day price was $67,000. LOL no thank you I would rather spend that on our next Super Duty or wife's Beemer and even 67 is a reach for those.

Fished out of Z9 last season. I liked it's layout and rough water ride. Since motor, TM and electronics have nothing to do with how a boat is made, I liked nothing else about the boat. The boat was garaged after every trip and both the passenger seat and driver seat have rips on the seams. Gel coat has stress cracks and even bad gel coat spots that bubbled and chipped off(not operator error either).
Bought my Cat in 05' and will keep it for awhile unless I upgrade to a new Cat.

Let's see, where do I start? I had a 2004 882. First of all they told me it was built and would be shipped in two weeks but it took eight. The trailer fender wasnt adjusted right so it rubbed the tire and started smoking before I got it out of the parking lot. It was sold with a 115 Opti which would not put the boat on plane. They ended up putting a 150 on it after trying numerous props and adjustments.
Springs on the trailer broke twice, the hydraulic line for the trailer brakes broke, the glove box lid broke, and most of the locks on the boxes broke. The wires were loose on most of the electrical connections so that when you hit rough water they would come loose.
One time driving down the road, the insert of the passenger console blew out. That included the glove box, windshield, etc. Even though I always kept it covered, the cable steering got water in it the first year and had to be replaced. The gel coat was thin so the least little bump chipped it. There are probably about 20 more things I could list but you get the point.
Finally, I hit a wave on Lewisville and the jackplate broke in half. The engine spun into the transom and the boat was totaled. Fortunately I had purchased replacement value insurance so I got all of my money back.
Im in a 2006 Triton now with zero complaints. I am aware that many people like the Nitro but my advice is: dont walk, run away from anything with the Nitro name on it.

I'm sorry for some of the bad luck some people have. We beat the living hell out of our Z8 every time we take it out and it looks exactly like it did the day we brought it home. I know Nitro had their problems in the past but the new Z models have been really great boats for alot of people. Are there some lemons in there. Sure but I bet all models have lemons. Oh I know thats so hard to believe.
I had a buddy who talked all kinds of stuff about Nitro and how chinsey they were. So while in BPS I said show me on this Z9 what your talking about. You know it accurred to me at that time that most his info was all hear say and he had no idea what he was talking about.
Have something work great-Nothing gets said Have something go wrong- Share it with the world Thats the way it works unfortunately

I'm in a 2001 929 CDX, and love it, it's a 20'9" boat with a 225 Merc, and it runs and fishes great. I'm rougher on a boat than most people, and I realize that if a 10 yr old boat can put up with my abuse, then the newer ones should, too. My next boat will be either a Z-8 or Z-9, unless I get a great deal on a Ranger...

Hmmm, I have owned 3 different Nitros since 2002, the newest one being a 2008 Nitro 929 CDX, and I can say I have never had a problem with any of my boats, or trailers. The 929 is a very dry and comfortable ride, gets out of the hole quickly and can get you where you want to go safely and quickly. The storage room is fantastic, and the huge front deck is very nice to have especially when you have two folks up front. It takes the big waves nicely also. I take my boat through some of the roughest areas the lakes can throw at me, and have never received a serious scratch to the gel coat with the exception of a screw sticking out of a dock I was tied to. I am very happy with my boat, and I have ridden and fished from quit a few makes and models of other brands. But the best boat is the one you have and enjoy regardless of what other folks say about it...lol Just saying I will buy another Nitro when the one I have no longer meets my needs.

Depends, I have a 2009 nitro x4---50 merc but it runs a solid 30 mph, I am wanting to purchase a 115 that should push it 50 or 55 maybe 60...this is not going to be my last boat.....but it's teaching me a heck of a lot, no need to get a z5 (almost in my budget) for me. I will eventually, hopefully bump up to my dream legend alpha 211, one day....but it's called fishng, not boating...for starting out, it's perfect. I'm young, ignorant and a male....fits me...why I want the 115. As much as it can legally take....
No need to go 70....look up boat crashes on you tube and see how easy it is to scare your wife and kids.
