My relatives own some land and have several ponds on it. Whenever we go down, we go to the ponds and catch dinner. In the past, we have kept some of these fish and ate them. However, I do not think my relatives know if these fish are healthy, or safe to eat. Is there anywhere you can take a fish to test if it is safe to eat? Or is there any test you can do yourself?

You may contact TP$W or maybe Texas A&M. I know they both test fish and soil (send them a soil sample from the bottom of the pond). I am not usre if TP$W will do if for anyone but I know TA&M will for a small fee.
Unless someone in the near past was dumping toxics near I would bet they are OK.

OR

If you grow another arm stop eating them laugh

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not worried they will hurt me, I only eat them once in a while. But my uncle on the other hand, eats them all the time. But he drounces them in so much seasoning salt that you are probabaly right, he will die from high cholesteral first.

The slim on the fish scales or skin will carry contaminats from the water. These can be transfered from the knife to the meat you are cleaning the fish with. It is recommened that you dip the fish in boiling water before cleaning.
