I have searched this forum and TFR for what I am looking for about Benbrook and have not found it. I drove over there today for a little bit and I apparently don't know my way around there very well yet. I went through Dutch Branch Park and then I found my way to Holiday Park.

I know there has to be more to that lake than those areas but I apparently am not aware of how to get to them. I will be doing bank fishing only. When I drive there I think I come in the back way on Lakeside Dr. I know there is a road that goes I think it was to Longhorn park. It looks like it is above the lake but again I could be wrong, I did not drive down that road today.

What am I missing here, I would just like to get to an area that I won't have trouble with trees for my back cast. It would be great if there was a little structure in the water. I have even fished along boat ramps and caught fish.

I have decided to get the 2 month July, Aug. fresh water license and then in Sept. get the new one so I will be on the right year to year cycle. I would have no use for the all water license at this point and would run into being 2 months short every year, so I decided I might as well get it.

So I know it will be busy on a holiday weekend, but I am going to my line in the water. I also know I won't tolerate the heat of the day well, almost passed out a few years back when we had our boat out on Whitney. I was even drinking Gatoraid and water. So it will most likely be in the morning or late afternoon, evening.

I don't want to travel too far and since I live about 10 minutes from Benbrook I figured I may as well just go there. I am also very close to French Lake in south Fort Worth and if nothing else I can go there also.

One of these days I may go up to Grapevine, and check that out and who knows I may see some of you that intentionally go fishing for carp on a fly rod....... laugh I may just watch from a distance......I hope you all know I am just kidding around, who knows I may like catching carp on a fly rod...... laugh

Hey I resent that. Mines not a fly rod, its my daughters kids zebco spincasting combo. 12.99 at Wal-Mart. I've caught more fish on two of those zebcos than any other rod in my arsenal. If you get the lay of the land on Benbrrok please post any good spots, I'll be trying to head out there soon enough.

Hey somethingsmellsfishy you should give the Shakespear Durango a try sometime, $10 from Wally world. It's what I use for a pearch rod, but I have also caught a 6# Drum and about a 5# Gar on it. If you need to replace the reel it's something like $4... thumb
