sandies seem to be schooling closer to the banks lately. this is the most activity i've seen since mid-may. they were still a little out of my casting distance, but i did manage to get two small hybrids and a small large mouth. i was out there from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm and they were schooling in patches the whole time. they are smaller fish from what i can tell, but im still hoping it's only a few days or a week before they enter my casting range. all were caught on 3/8 oz chart. rooster tail. let the summer sandy run begin!!

ckcrew, I noticed some bait fish zipping along last week within distance of Jones park last week. So I went back with my UL gear and some smal spinners and spec rigs. I caught a 15" flathead imagine that. It seemed sparodic pattern on the nbait fish thoguh not the explosion of large schools trying t ofly from the water to keep from being eaten alive.
I hope your rightthoguh. I noticed some activity of them along the rip rap where I was fishing and seena few boats pull off abouta 100yds from me and try for sandies a few times over the weekend. They didnt stay long and didnt catchanything I seen but then I was busy with ole charlie channel and his cousins!!!

If you were to use a 5/8 or 3/4 oz SLAB, on 10-12 lb test line, you could probable reach them.

i was fishing at robertson park. i was using a 3/4 oz slab and a 1/2 oz lil george until i changed to the rooster tail. and all my rods have 12 lb line. still i was just about 10 yds away from most of the action. well, that was last night.

this morning, i stopped by windsurf bay to kill some time before work. i wanted to see if sandies were still hitting the topwater shad. i guess it was around 6:30 am when i got there. and it was a feeding frenzy! i mean the whole length of the bank was boiling with sandies. and it was well within casting distance this time. i really thought about going back home to get my gear and call in sick but i knew better. the whole rush probably lasted about thirty minutes. and by 7:00 it simmered down. im definitely going back tomorrow morning. ill report on what happens.

Canteens(water, sport drink or tea) and sunscreen is all aperson needs for the hotest days, that and to know when enuff is enuff.
Heatstroke exhaustion wacks alot of folks each year, but thats for the off topic forum! thumb

well, i just came back from windsurf this morning. and the sandies were schooling again. started around 6:45 and schooled until 7:00. and that was it. most were still out of my casting distance but i managed to catch four. and they were all nice size. 12-14 inch range. they seem to be really fiesty these days. i have a big gash on my thumb cause one just wouldnt let me handle him. i guess they think they are hybrids or something. i caught them on a new lure i bought yesterday at academy. its called jiggn shad and it was only 79 cents. i like em.
