I have not noticed much difference on which one pulls out best. I think it is more your technigue in the retrieve. I use the origional Bill Lewis rattle trap, and Strike King's red eye shads.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

More how you fish them than anything else. Best when you barely get hung and rip them out. Too much into the grass and you just rip out a trap full of grass.

Change the hooks to good light wire hooks. I find they cut the grass better and rip free the best.

do you down size your trap, or up size your line when the water gets cold, say below 50 degrees?

I havent really noticed much difference. I think most of it has to do with the rod and how your ripping it. I normally just keep reeling and it will usually pull lose or I might just pop it. I see a lot of guys rip it like they are setting the hook to the side and bury the trap deeper into the grass.

A while back fishing a fish loaded area of thick hydrilla on Rayburn, we could not use the non-floating Bill Lewis rattle traps or redeyed shads lipless cranks as they were hopelessly getting hung up no matter how fast we retrieved them.....but switching to non-floating Cotton Cordells which dropped slower allowed us to get the lures in the strike zones without just mowing the grass each cast.

Try a Yozuri rattlin Vibe. On the other rattle type baits if you go to a bigger hook they seem to come through the grass better than with the smaller hook. Small hooks seem to hold the grass on the bait more.

Have not noticed much of a difference, but if I were to give my opinion I would say the red eye Shad, they fall belly first and not nose first so they do not seem to grab as much grass. Just my opinion though
