@ 2fish4everything ok I see why the dog food wouldn't work. So I just pour the feed around a nice deep dock and let some hours pass by and then come back to cast net it?

You'll have to make the first cast count with the net.. Or a hook and some Wheaties Cereal made into dough bait, then hold on!!! lol They like canned corn too..

Yes sir, Just bait out where it would be easy to throw to. If you are not good at throwing you can bait out a boat slip. Take a buddy with you, you can stand on the corners of the boat slip each of you holding one end of the net. Fold the net almost in half, pull tight, let one end of the net hang in the water and with the second half swing the net in unison and toss it out. It should open almost all the way. If you do it this way there isn't a big splash from throwing it and you can get several drops in the same hole without spooking the buffs. Trying to catch them on R&R this time of the year is a waste. They aren't feeding very heavily in the cold. Spring time is a lot of fun though

Depends on what lake. A deep dock on Lake Worth would be 10ft a deep dock on GV would be 25-30. I would say whatever is available to you. It only cost 1-2 dollars to bait a hole so if I'm not sure how deep I'll bait a couple diff spots. Docks are always a sure bet though

we have those buffs like crazy in the spring- they are an awful lot of fun on a crappie jig and ultra light (managed to actually land 2 so far) Last time I bought a buff at a fiesta it was 2.99 a lb in November
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

@ how do you make the doug bait? @ 2fish4everything I have practiced enough to make some decent full open cast so maybe I'll have some luck. If not I'll try your method. Also dont want to sound dumb but whats R&R?

if you go to g-vine, might head over to scotts landing marina. if you are facing the boardwalk into the marina - 50lbs of range cubes have been scattered directly to the left of the boardwalk in front of the decorative chain fence.

This area where you are talking about should be pretty shallow if it is the main entrance like I think it is. I know there use to be tons of buffalo that hanged around Little Petes in Twin Coves. Those crazy yuppies would feed them. I have an almost completely full bag of range cubes so I will give it a try.

@ catfishingterry I called the fishermens supply and no answer. Cant blame then for not being there especially in this weather. @ Lga043 I think I'm going to try Fiesta. @ Ryan Cook I'll try that as well and add some Mexi vanilla. @ Greasy skillet How do I bait the crawfish? Just hook them through the tail about 3 sections from the end. Avoid the dark vein running down the center. Keep them in a bucket of fresh cold water and they will survive a long time. They are very hardy. As a bonus, if you have leftovers, boil them up and have a crawfish boil. These fish were all caught on crawfish one week ago before the cold front hit. Its not a good photo. Two of the bigger channel cats slid off the back of the cooler just when we took the picture.
