I've met Mike several times and he really is a good guy. Very well spoken, too. He's a cool cat in spite of some of his "branding" stuff folks don't like. I sat at a table with he and his wife for a couple hours at last year's Classic. I had met him before that, but this was the first time I ever really got to visit with the man. Like I said, Ike is one cool cat.

That,s good stuff. Me and my son met Ike at Rayburn a couple of years ago. Took pictures with my son and talked fishing. We were Ike fans already but now even more. Good luck to him in the Classic.

I've been watching Ike's TV show and have gained a lot of respect for him. He truely loves to fish... Great article DB... Dan

Cytic Fibrosis is a such a tough disease. My oldest brothers son, Matt, passed away at the age of 18 from CF. It's a very difficult struggle at many times for those who have it.
It's truly inspiring to see how these young people are able to deal with it. We tend to gripe about things that are trivial in life. The ironic thing is that it made Matt much stronger and he seemed to appreciate life more during his short time on earth. He was a real good kid. The disease always seemed so unfair but we don't get to change that.
It's great that Ike's able and willing to take time with young people such as Ryan. I really respect him as someone who had the guts to follow his dream and passion while still willing to share it with others.
I didn't really like the "Ike" image at first. The more I found out about him the more I like him. Today he's one of my favorite pro's.
