I live at the lake and am looking to chase after some whites for the first time on my kayak. But I know nothing. Just wondering what everyone thinks I should throw, where to fish and when. BTW kayak does not have a fishfinder.

Thanks,
Kevin

They're reporting some whites up in the Rebecca Creek area. When the whites are running, you can basically toss out a shad scale on a hook and they will bite, but any ultra light lure should work. I've used anything from Road Runners to miscellaneous crank baits, although Shad Raps seem to be a good lure of choice. Glad you've reminded me. I have to get my 4600's ready for this. Can't wait!

Oh, don't forget about the consumption advisory on stripers there at Canyon. You don't want to get sick!

The stripers have high mercury levels, so there's a consumption advisory. Something like no more than so many ounces per month and no consumption if pregnant. It's only with stripers and gar. All other species are fine. I'll see if I can find the link on the TPWD website.

My buddy went to the Rebecca Creek area this morning on his kayak and trolled with crankbaits. He caught 8.

We went out this morning but could not get any bites. Heard reports of a few small black bass and a striper. Trying again tomorrow.
