Tie some extra rope on your handline. Your gonna need it after this weather. Unless you know of a hot water outlet, then you ought to be able to slay them.

If you can't find any shad, go to a Fiesta store or an Aisian market, and buy a Buffalo-fish, cut it up in 1" X 2" strips, at Fiesta, they will clean it for you, but don't let them wash it, just scale it, sometimes the Blues like Buffalo better than shad, a spray with dead red helps too!!!

@ catfishingterry I called the fishermens supply and no answer. Cant blame then for not being there especially in this weather. @ Lga043 I think I'm going to try Fiesta. @ Ryan Cook I'll try that as well and add some Mexi vanilla. @ Greasy skillet How do I bait the crawfish?

How big of Buffalo are ya'll buying. The one time I went to fiesta the only fish they had must of weighed 25#. At a $1.40 a # that would be pretty expensive.

Everybody needs to stop buying buffalo and buy you a 50# bag of range cubes from the feed store. Costs about 10 dollars. Next time you go out bait up a deep dock with 3-5 lbs of cubes in a tight circle. Go chase the kitties for a couple hrs, come back and drop the cast net on them. Free fresh bait. A 50# bag will catch you hundreds of pounds of buff
No point in dropping 30-40 dollars on 10#s of bait IMO.

@ Lga043 sorry to say but went to Fiesta and BrianTX01 is right the buffalo there is to expensive. @ 2fish4everything I heard of that and also using dog food I think, but I never took it serious till now that you mentioned it. Now I'm going to try it and see my luck? Thanks!

No prob, Dog food doesn't work as good IMO. You need a high protein range cube that will sink since the buffs and carp will be in deeper water this time of year. Plus they are attracted to protein so the higher the better
You could always use a weighted bag or bucket with holes drilled through it to get the dog food down deep but it may not have the same results as the range cubes
