My boat has been bogging down every now an again when trying to crank it up. Me, being not so mechanically inclined have done everything I know to do. I replaced the cranking battery and changed the spark plugs. It is almost as if it is trying to crank on a weak battery. I continue to test the battery and it is showing a full charge. Anything else I need to do before taking it to a mechanic? It is a an 2004 Bass Tracker with a 60 HP Mercury.

Thanks

A standard battery should have no problem cranking that size engine. My guess would be a bad winding in the starter or solenoid. Have you tried shorting around solenoid to test?

Rajin Cajun,

Unfortunately,I have no idea where or what the solenoid is. Like I said my mechanical knowledge is extremely limited to say the least. Is this process complicated?

Thanks

The large red wire coming in from the battery goes to the solenoid and then there will be a short jumper to the starter just take a set of jumper cables (1 side) and short from one large red wire to the short large red wire that goes to the starter.
