Since most of you folks are snowed in (never seen 1,000 viewers on the bass section before at one time), I thought I'd share this video I found. I've been doing this for years, but this video shows how to get over-runs out easily. Cutting line makes casting harder, not to mention costs money, an under filled reel does not cast far as a full one.

I have tried this technique and it works! Unfortunately I try it more often than I'd like. bolt

Do you thumb the reel so much that the spool doesn't turn? Or the spool turns slightly?

You thumb it hard, but reel harder. It reverses the line and takes the one holding it up and redistributes it so the pull takes it out normally.

First thing I taught my 9 year old after giving him his first baitcaster.

No, just enough to reverse the loops. Tighten the drag.

I have known about this technique for quite some time and I guess I don't do it right because it has never worked for me

TFFer Shaky showed me that trick awhile back. It somehow works better for him. But I have gotten it to work.
