Some of the best bank fishing of the year is about to start around austin. The white bass run will be starting in the next couple of weeks. Some of the best spots near austin are up at Granger in the river near the 95 bridge. Also you might try Reimer's Ranch out hamilton pool road. This is another great place for the whites. Search the white bass section of this forum for more information on these places. There are lots of other location around austin that are good at other times of the year, but the white bass run is one of the best bank fishing chances you will get all year. Good luck. ------------------ Tight lines

You can call Reimer's for more information. 512-264-1923. Last time I called him, he said that the run won't be very good unless we get more rain. The San Gabriel near granger may be the better option this year. dereklm-- Best crappie lake around austin is probobly Granger. Go to freshwater reports section and look for posts by Crappie1....he guides for crappie there on lake granger. ------------------ Tight lines

The whites are still not in the rivers around austin( San Gabriel and Perdenales), but it won't be long that's for sure. The only place within 2 hours of austin that has running whites right now is over at newman's bottom east of austin. Limits have been coming out of there for a couple weeks. ------------------ Tight lines

Try this link for bank fishing. I always post it.... http://www.geocities.com/clinscott_pfl/wbassarticle.html Also, I understand that Lake Georgetown is down 14 foot. I would think the upper end of the lake, would be too shallow or no water at all?? However, we have had some good rains the last couple days so it should stir the water up on any river. Keep the reports coming. I am hoping for warmer weather.... Here is another good website for Austin area fishing holes. Small lakes or ponds hold big bass, catfish and crappie, too. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fish/infish/cfllist/?r=6 [This message has been edited by Ranger R (edited 02-05-2004).] [This message has been edited by Ranger R (edited 02-05-2004).]

Anyone been out to Camp Tejas yet this year? I'm wondering if it's dry or if these rains have helped pick up the flow.

Stop by low water crossing at Camp Tejas this past Sunday on the way back from Florence. River was lowest I've seen it. don't think the whites could make it all the way up to the crossing. We've had a couple more inches of rain since then so maybe it's up some. Might be a longer walk this year! Take care and God bless.
