Anyone hear about a new fishing rod from H2O Express? I heard from a somewhat unreliable source that they have some new blue rod coming out that is going to be awesome and only $59.99. This source supposedly is on the Bassmaster setup crew and has seen them in the plans for the Academy booth?

I have been using the H20 "blue rod" prototypes since the American Fishing Series at Lake Falcon last January. I have caught TONS of fish on them. Let me tell you, they are an excellent rod. In fact, they compare to my Kistler LTAs believe it or not. The models that I have been testing include:

6'6" MH
6'8" spinning
7'0" MH (awesome shaky head and wacky worm rod)
7'0" composite cranking rod (good for small to medium cranks)
7'0" H
7'6" H, but a stouter heavy action

I have not have a problem one out of these rods. They all have 100% genuine Fuji components: Alconite guides, ACS reel seats. All models are split grip.

From what I understand from my contact at Academy, these rods will be on display at the Bassmaster classic and will be in stores the first week of March.

In my opinion this is the best rod on the market for $59.99 and compares to much higher end models.

I can't wait to try out one of those beauties. You can never have too many rods, right?

I have been testing the same set of rod and I like them as good as my Cara T7s. I know Scogin likes the shatter-prone LTAs for some strange reason, but I wouldn't take one over the H2Os for anything. I have been really impressed with the entire set. I am not much of a composite cranking guy but if that is your thing the 7' cranker is lightwieght and sensitive. The 7'6" is a freaking azzkicker, and I wouldnt really call it a heavy but more of almost an extra heavy (it is more of a 6.5 power IMO). I sort of accidently boat flipped a 7.5 lbr at a benefit tourn on squaw creek with 65lb power pro with it, because I didn't know it was that big and my partner didn't get the net in time. If you punch grass buy this rod. I have really tried to break them, per the guys request who gave them to me, and although I didn't do anything too much out of the ordinary I am still using all 7. My favorite of them all is the 7'H paired with a 50MG. That thing weighs nothing and is super sensitive. When they are available I am buying another 7'H and 7'6" H.

I also want to mention that I am not in any way sponsored by Academy (notice its not in my sig like most of the guys that promote products on here). I am just giving you my honest assessment of the rods.

Scogin, I don't have to take that from a guy that runs a Nitro with half the hull missing. LMFAO

How does one get involved with testing fishing gear? Wouldn't mind doing that!

You just have to be roommates in college with the guy that gets a job with the corporate office designing fishing rods.

I hope they are better than their precip line of rods. Myself along with everyone else I know who owned one, shattered the blank on minimal hooksets. I guess you get what you pay for in that regard.

From what I have heard, Academy is using a different factory to make these new "blue rods". I have been testing samples as well for over a year and Academy did their homework on these. After fishing with them once or twice a week for over a year I am in love. If there was a blank issue I would have broken one by now.
