Wanting to take my bride (been one for 27 years) on vacation to Corpus Christi. Never been there before.
I'd like to hear suggestions on where to stay and where to eat. Will probably go in June and stay 2 to 3 days.
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

We Stay at the Radison on the beach ask for the ocean view room it is not too expensive and within walking distance to the aquarium, and the battleship. Black beards is right across the street for a fun dinner. The food is pretty good and reasonable. The north padre beach is actually better than the hotel beach but it is no more than a 30 minute drive. The room service is great. The holiday inn at North padre is a bit more expensive with resort fees. Good luck and have fun!

Everything sounds good except that Blackbeard's is too much of a bar for our tastes.

I would drive 20 more miles and stay in Port A . Channelview condo's -- privite fishing pier that is lighted. I like to eat at Snoopys on the way out of Corpus going to the island.

Alot of stuff to do in Port A. Stay at the Port Royal for first timers down there. It is pretty expensive, but everybody has got to stay there once. Tons of places to eat in Port A too. Snoopys is a must.

By "Port A", I am assuming you mean "Port Aransas"? Yes sir Port "A" = Port Aransas. I would stay in Port A before I stayed in Corpus. If you wanted to visit the tourist attractions in Corpus (Like the Lexington or the Aquarium) it's only a 35-45 minute drive from Port A, and there plenty of places in Port A to wet a line (The South Jetty, Caldwell Pier on the beach, Charlies Pasture, the pier at the Marina, just to name a few. If you like good seafood. Stop in and eat at the BRIGHT ORANGE resturaunt on Cotter Street near Port A Outfitters, food has been AWESOME every time we have eaten there.
One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!

I('d stay in Port A anytime rather than fight all the idiot traffic in corus. Lots of good fishing places and great restaurants in Port A. We've been staying at Sea Isle Village there every year for the past 25 years. Great folks. Lat month we reserved an effiency condo and while we were dring down they called us to as if it was okay to upgrade us to a 2 bedroom condo. The unit was really nice with 3 tv's and 2 bathrooms. Also had a deck overlooking the beach. Highly recommend Moby Dicks restaurant and the Beach and Station Street restaurant(great gumbo")>

Port A a must! High-end (on beach) : Port Royal, Grand Carribean, Mayan Princess - Mid-range (off beach) : Seashell Village, Aransas Harbor (view rooms first). Dining - Beach Street Grill (fried or stuffed flounder), La Playa (especially if you have catch to cook). BE CAREFUL, YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO COME BACK!

For the food in Corpus try Kiko's Mexican ( a local favorite). North Padre try Dragonfly seafood "awesome". North Padre Island, Padre pizza, not your "ordinary" pizza. These spots are local spots and the tourists that are fortunate enought to find out. If in Aransas Pass try the Bakery Cafe for breakfast, across from the H.E.B. Also Kiko's is a good breakfast stop.

I stayed at the Staybridge Suites near the mall in Corpus for a month last May. Great place to stay if you don't need to have beach front or water front. Very clean...incredible free breakfast, super free dinner Tuesday through Thursday, good service, super outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Free laundry facility and a workout room...but it is in the heart of a busy section of town. The gal at the desk mentioned they have another Staybridge up near Port Aransas that is one block from the beach if you need closer to water. This hotel was at 5201 Oakhurst Corpus Christi. As far as restaurants, I went to one local seafood place right on the water one night...I'll try to find the name of it...it was south of the hotel about 20 minutes...got talking to a guy who had his boat docked there and was invited out fishing but had to pass due to work. That place is off the beaten path but the food was good and the open porch by the water was nice....try to find it for you. The Staybridge Suites was wonderful.
Have a super time. By the way, if you like freshwater fishing near there, check out Corpus Christi Lake State Park...nice place and I caught a bunch of fish there while typing reports in the afternoons.
Pray for a return to our Constitution.

Sounds like we need to consider Port Aransas rather than Corpus Christi. We're open to the idea, for sure.
Thanks for the information that everyone has provided.
Have not made a firm decision yet.

I grew up down there and definitely would say Port A, and +2 on Port Royale.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Some would and some would not - but we are going in May and we ALWAYS stay st Knight's Inn. RIGHT on the beach and you can walk to almost all attractions.
The place is OLD, but it also has balconies with a beach view and it is about $50 a night.

I like to eat at Snoopys on the way out of Corpus going to the island. ++1 on Channelview and Snoopy's. Channelview is on the ship channel and has large, clean condos and a fantastic private fishing pier. I've stayed there many times over the last 15 years and have caught some really nice trout and redfish from the pier. (PIC OF PIER BELOW) Snoopy's Pier is a must visit if you like fried seafood They have some of the best fried shrimp and oysters Ive ever eaten. Plan on sitting outside on their pier because the inside does not have AC.
