I had added to a topic in the open freshwater discussion, but really wanted to get my answers here in case some TFFers only look here. My question was...

I recently sank some Christmas trees in a cove that generally have produced crappie in the spring. Do you think that they will be successful, even though it was only in about 8 ft of water? I also sank a couple of condos off of the backside of a dam of a sunken pond in that same cove that drops from 3 to 12 ft. My grandfather and I used to fish the stumps and the pond in that cove before he passed. The stumps have since broke off and are very tough to find. I thought that since we have caught them in the same cove, it would be a decent place to sink them. Am I wrong? I keep seeing people say 15-22 ft. Just needed a little input.

people are saying 15-22 ft, because of the time of year. that depth should be good spawn and post spawn.

I think they will find that brush and you should catch some during the spawn.

Trees are great, but not always easy to get....
What you have in mind will work great you may also look on u-tube for more ideas on stake beds, bamboo and condos..
Heres a pic of a easy to make shallow water attractor.
I have used them for years and they work..
It's easy to "hide" them in the boat while transporting.
Just tape the "arms" up together and stack them untill ready to put out...
The black tubings is called drip line. 500' roll for 35.00 I ordered at hm depot
It's about 2' high and 6' dia.
The tubing was attached with a screw to a small piece of wood, cemented in the bucket and the tape you see was just to hold the arms steady untill it setup.
